Not sure what happened to the price. It's £386.99

Are hybrids actually any good "off road"? I'm tempted but I've read mixed reviews. I think for the most part I'd be on dirt / cycle tracks and I can imagine this being a bit of a tough ride?

V brakes?
Aren't they bit old school for a top end bike??

It seems to be very difficult to get a good quality bike at a good price new so I now go for nearly new from online auction and get a much better deal for the money.

Look at Pro road bikes, NO Disc breaks to be found on any of them

go for a mountain bike this has no suspension whatsoever , hybrids are excellent on road and passable off road(alot depends on the tires). Mountain bikes are excellent off road not so good on road.

I prefer V Brakes on a hybrid.... I like the simplicity of them and they are cheap and easy to maintain.
On a mountain bike, where you are sometimes riding through wet muddy terrain then obviously discs will perform better.

+ 4.5% Quidco = about £370? Almost at my price point...

You can get 10% off in halfords if you're a British cycling member. £15 is the cheapest membership, so getting nearer to your budget.

Stevinho, I'd be interested in the comparison between those two as well

Got a mate to check 'em both out, he's into his bikes and he recommended the one posted in this deal rather than the one I was looking at...

I pick it up tomorrow

Thanks mate, good to know

Stevinho, I've been recommended the opposite. Depends on the use it will get as I'll still use mines on cycle paths and dirt tracks occasionally the MX version is the one for me. Either way both are cracking deals. I'll be getting mine on Monday once my british cycling membership email comes through, so hopefully £405 - whatever quidco is available on monday

Not a good start so far...

Halfords phoned me this morning saying my bike hadn't arrived...

Then an hour later phoned me telling me it had but was covered in quite bad scratches...offered me £50 worth of accessories if I took the bike. Told 'em no, gotta wait until next week now for another one to arrive..

Not good! Hopefully works out eventually

And order cancelled. Messed about from Halfords so will now look elsewhere

I often think of "hybrid" as "commuter bike better able to bump up and down kerbs/cycle on grass briefly than full road bike".

If you're serious about off-road biking (dirt tracks/tree roots) AND road cycling (racing) you're going to need two separate bikes.

It's ok bike but decathlon fit 5 is much better for the same money. For 379 pounds you get carbon fork, sora and it's two kg lighter.

decathlon fit 5,that is a better deal! good find.

Road bikes have caliper brakes which perform better than V-brakes.

This is not a bad deal but I would prefer to see better brakes at this price point.

V brakes will both lock the rear wheel and have you over the front of the handlebar with ease, why you would want any more than that is a mystery to me.
