£100 / 10% off usual price. Seems good price for carbon frame.
Looking into this model as just got "road bike of the year 2017" on road.cc website.

Great price! Using British cycling discount at 10% makes it £810!! You could also be clever with some Zeek gift vouchers as £815 worth are currently selling at 8% discount making this bike £750 which is pretty decent for this spec.
His bikes are very good, but I don't rate his safety helmets!

Or the Planet X for £799, Ultegra rear mech plus shifters hardly a set, better value?.... planetx.co.uk/i/q…ike
as morrig stated plenty of other choices with better spec around this price.

Can even get a Giant TCR advanced 2 2017 carbon with 105 (complete) at only £50 more

h2gear.co.uk/124…spx

The next gen of course are also RS505 hydraulics in play although not hunted deep enough to find one with carbon only good alloy from quickly checking (albeit closer to planet x prices)

Boardman = garbage.

hmmm - some of the top end stuff is really highly rated

mid level is usually considered good bang for buck

entry wouldn't interest me too much

Nonsense. While they might not have an image that sets your pulse racing they are well designed and of good quality.

Like any bike brand that has a broad range some are better than others but at a given price point they are amongst the best.

Had few of them(Team ones)through the bike scheme, in most of them bottom bracket was gone after few months.
Giant offer lifetime warranty on frames. Boardman just one year on parts, upto 2 or 3 years for frames. Draw your own conclusions as to their faith in their own QA.

Heard mixed reviews from owners of Boardman bikes (at various range levels). YMMV though.

Which isn't a Boardman part, probably FSA. Mine squeaked a bit from new so I removed it (only a 10mm Allen key needed) popped s dab of grease on and a few thousand miles later it's still ok. Granted it shouldn't be my job to do that but the fundamental product is not garbage.
Great bike. It will probably drop in march/april to £800 as i have the 2016 team carbon which is exactly the same but for the livery. I bought mine in May 2016 for £800. Its an even bigger bargain if you can purchase it on a cycle to work scheme. The wheels are too heavy but you will want to upgrade them soon as your firends drop you at the first sight of a climb. You will also save about 500grms if you swap for a set about 1700grams and this makes a huge different to performance. One word of warning though - Halford are complete muppets and really cannot set a bike up. I had to return on three occasions to get it remedied. I would recommend having a professional cycle shop tune the gearing as halfords just do not have the expertise. Having said all of that i would still purchase this again as it rides well and does not look put of place against more expensive bikes.

I am a beginner, currently using the Triban 500 SE. I am weakest in the climbs

I am now looking for a lighter bike and wonder which of the lot would suit best?

Racing is not the main concern - an endurance frame geometry would suit better. Signed up for 140 km events with hills.
Yep Garbage and Olympian Nicola Cooke won a gold medal while riding one lol.

They are a bargain bike but now not using expensive carbon like the older Toray models. Just don’t let Halfords build it for you!
