Boardman Elite SLR 9.4 Road Bike
  • C10 Carbon Frame and Fork with maximum 28mm tyre clearance
  • Shimano Ultegra Di2 R8050 groupset with 11-30t cassette for maximum gear range
  • Boardman Elite Alloy cockpit and SLR Elite Five wheels keep weight low
  • Fizik Antares R7 Saddle
  • Vittoria Corsa G+ 25mm Tyres
The Boardman Elite SLR 9.4 Road Bike uses the same high modulus C10 carbon frame as the flagship 9.8 model, maximising power transfer and minimising weight whilst at the same time incorporating aero-optimised tube profiles and comfort enhancing frame features. Safe to say we think the SLR frame and fork make a compelling all round package for every type of road riding.

Boardman SLR Elite 5 wheels and Vittoria Corsa G+ tyres keep rotating weight and rolling resistance low, allowing you to spin up the climbs and power on down the other side confident in the SLR 9.4’s excellent handling and grip. Shimano’s impressive Ultegra Di2 R8050 groupset needs no introduction, with electronic shifting ensuring perfect gear changes every time. For a bike which delivers such stand-out performance, we had to make sure it had the visual presence to match, and the bright fluro-yellow paint job of the SLR 9.4 means it will be easy for your riding companions to keep track of you as you disappear up the road ahead of them.

Calipers are used in rim brakes and disc brakes. If you meant that rim brakes are useless, that is not true either.

I think I'll trade in my son's old £20 scooter. Seems a great deal.
Wow
Great spec for price
Good price but get the build checked over by a real bike shop as they even let my cousin build bikes there and he’s a fruit loop. (and people have been seriously hurt by Halfords / boardman bikes)

that is a bonkers setup for sub 1500

Now....

Do I see if I could get away with a in store disocunt too lol
Amazing value. Why doesn't Boardman sell these through proper bike shops? Surely would be better for them.

I suspect you have not ridden much in the wet, at least not with aluminium wheels and swiss stop pads that is. Not everyone needs to brake late and hard like a racing professional, so no need for disk brakes IMO.

Useless? So they have no use ever in any situation? Given mechanical disc brakes aren't exactly brilliant, rim brakes are a lot less hassle than hydraulic disc brakes.
Looks like Halfords have started selling a few more Boardman models. This is a great price, restricted sizes available though (less than half of the range).

I have 3 bikes, 2 with rim brakes one with mech discs, would take the rim brakes any day

I'm assuming you cannot use the British cycling code in combo with the 20% tradein right?

If the only experience of discs are mech variants then I too would prefer rims.

However, by far, my own preference are hydraulic discs. Whilst rims are good in favourable conditions it is only with rims (admittedly some rather extreme conditions) that I have encountered a front mech failure which presented itself to me on a 20 degree descent. Very squidgy shorts that day (fortunately nothing else other than a bit of unintended offroading).

Only one of my bikes presently has rims which only comes out in fair weather and when that is replaced it will also go to discs.

Looks like they've updated the offer, you can't use the 20% on top any more.
I know someone who bought a top end Boardman frame & the geometry was well out. Just be careful.

Exactly the same as me, rim brakes on my tt bike which only sees dry roads and hydraulic on my commuter and trainer.
Guys, this or the Giant tcr advanced 1 with disc brakes (ultegra.... 105 cassete) at £1499 at tredz?

Is the giant proper hydraulic disc brakes or the hybrid version giant have? If the latter go with this di2 is pretty special

I think I'll trade in my son's old £20 scooter. Seems a great deal.

I used the trade in offer recently. My Halfords didn't even want a scooter, no mention of it, when I picked up the bike but still got the discount.

They sell scooters for £13 at Halfords 👌
Asked Halfords on twitter and they said there's an issue with the code but it should be back up shortly. Gave me the option to DM them and organise it another way (maybe in store)
Code is now working. 🏻
I hate hot UK deals, I now have 5 bikes....

..calling them 'useless' will be bit extreme.

But yes - I would also prefer disc brakes and don't think will go back to rim brakes in forseen future.
