It was on hand pull but not in cans - not even in the infamous ' Bodkan'. Ironically, when they were advertising it as 'the Cream of Manchester' it was being brewed in the 'factory' brewery at Samlesbury between Preston and Blackburn.

There's a Bodkan on display in the Science Museum! If I remember correctly (and I did buy a few in the 70s) it was 4 pints in a can with a central rubber bung in the top.

I also remember a Boddingtons Winter Warmer, which was a seasonal ale with impressive abv
