For anyone wanting to buy a decent Olympic weights set I would have a look at this. I know quite a few people will look at this and scoff at £150 for a barbell and some weights. However when you consider that most Olympic barbells are over £50 alone and most places online sell their weight plates at £1.80 per kg minimum it seems like a good deal to me.

I'll happily admit I'm pretty much a complete novice when it comes to weights so maybe someone more knowledgeable will tell me this is rubbish. But having received mine today it seems pretty good to me. Now if only I actually had the muscles to lift it.

Oh one other plus of this deal is that it was free delivery even to NI which is pretty good especially for something this bulky.

Thanks

OP,if you are struggling to lift them then send them to me,and I will lift them for you

This is the same price as on their website, lots of other barbell packages on their website too. It's worth also having a look at fitness superstore they are a similar online store and have 5% quidco or 5% off when you subscribe to newsletter

I brought a set like this many years ago along with a squat cage, best investment i ever made! Looks like a decent price op

Same price on their website.
powerhouse-fitness.co.uk/bod…php

Normally a popup appears if you browse a couple of pages offering 5% off. Sure it's not that much but better than nothing.

I bought my power rack from here, great piece of kit but the delivery and customer service were sub standard. Took 2 weeks to get it to me!

Fake tough guy

I need this. Bought a home gym but that only goes to 60kg so shot straight through the max weight on this after a couple of months...

Woops

I'm sure most people know, but just to make those who don't aware this is 80kg of actual weights and then the bar itself is 20kg - they are good quality weights and I'd say the price is ok, not amazing but not a rip off either

Feel sorry for the poor sod who has to deliver this.

I got the 7ft for £156 a few months back, decent quality, very pleased.
As someone mentioned before if you browse around or try to close the browser with something in your basket you might get the 5% discount code popping up.

Worth noting that a 6ft bar won't be compatible with many bench press racks. Great for squats deadlifts though.

Sorry, yes I should have emphasised this. The weight quoted does include the weight of the bar.

I know what you mean, if you live on the uk mainland there are other similar offers online but for those of us in NI they either don't deliver or add on a fortune in postage. My local shop would be fitnessequipmentni.co.uk, based in Lisburn, who want £115 for a 6ft Olympic bar and £40 for each 20kgs of weight plates. So this type of deal makes more sense for me.

Yes a 7ft bar might have been better suited to most benches. Something like the rack below (the one I'm using) is adjustable for most bar lengths.

Looks good to me a 7foot bar would have been better though.

I bought the 7ft bar 145kg package from powerhouse fitness over a year ago and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The bar and plates have held up well and have been dropped numerous times while deadlifting. Since bought more plates and mats from them. One of the only companies that will ship barbell weight sets free to NI which is a big plus. Heat!!

WTF is a squat deadlift?

WTF is a squat deadlift?

Squatlifts?

6ft may be more practical for some home set ups - need to get stands to match of course but my powertec set up has proven to be a little too big for my garage set up and so I am considering selling for a different/ smaller arrangement.

well CLEARLY a squat lift is where you no arm squat whilst also deadlifting. Ultimate gains!

some guy in dromore sells a lot of weights and equipment, seems to get it in bulk from china. It comes from same suppliers as powerhousefitness, its basically bodymax products without the logo

Unless you have tiiiiny shoulders it won't work. I have a home set up and an adjustable bench rack similar to the one linked above. The gap needed to hold a 6ft bar simply isn't wide enough to actually bench in. Your arms will hit the sides of the rack.

the The Bodymax CF470 Heavy Half Rack is good if a whole rack might be over bearing in a garage, but still need a 7ft bar

Yeah, I'm 6'3 and the safety rails on the rack are just too close using the 6ft bar.

I was thinking individual squat stands. Put them where I want them. Move them around. Take up lot less room when not needed. Got a half rack now but its a big old cumbersome thing.

Just checked my order. I snagged it for 225 last year, worth every penny for the use I've got out of it
