Boiler cover £23.95 x 12 = £287.40
This won’t be for everyone but worked out very handy for me and my 8 year old boiler, we didn’t have cover and three parts needed replacing, looking at £800 to repair or £1400 to replace.
I then found this offer for SSE customers on their website. You join up for 12 months cover and they will come out and fix your boiler for free, no call out cost etc. They told me £500 parts cost limit, if they came and couldn’t repair I could cancel the policy. I felt I had nothing to lose! I went for it and someone was out the same day to look at it and two days later when parts arrived it was fixed nothing to pay and I now have cover for 12 months so a bit of peace of mind.
If your boiler is under 7 years old it will get replaced if deemed unable or uneconomical to repair for over 7 years they will provide a discretionary amount towards a new boiler

Non SSE customers can also use but have £95 call out fee

AVOID Royal Burkens but a good boiler is Smith Rolls or if you want to spend a bit more you can get a Substantial Whopper, mind you they do go dodgy if you don’t feed them premium water
Sse offt. Cowboys in my experience. You get what you pay for. There is none at present but check for BG homecare cashback normally £100 on a £250 odd policy. The sse guys I had were not proper engineers. Just my experience but never again. Walked Intp my house said boiler was Condemned for 2 reasons but walked out an hour later having signed it all off as working perfectly. No idea what he was doing, couldn't work The thermostat and said a hole in the flue which was a bit of discoloured paint.. All I could think about what if that was an elderly woman or man, they would have a heart attack with muppets like that working for them. But if your deal. Was good and you got it fixed well done.
British Gas aren’t offering that service at the moment as I checked, mine was passed to the boiler manufacturer so I had ideal come out
Doesn't apply to the OP because they required immediate repairs, but a good way to look after your boiler is to have a local engineer service it annually for about £60 and, for peace of mind, take out a £5/month boiler and radiator policy with one of the energy suppliers. The cheap £5 policies still protect you if something expensive goes wrong; the main difference is that they don't include an annual service.
I found the home emergency cover about £25 extra on my Direct Line home insurance (other available) policy covered my boiler breakdown and pays out up to £500 for repairs. Worked a treat when I needed a new circuit board. These seperate policies seem very expense in comparison.
This deal is for those who don’t have existing cover obviously in hindsight I wish I had taken out something prior!
It’s not to be compared to policies available to purchase anytime when your boiler is functioning this one relates to a broken down boiler and minimising the costs
Why she take cover off dat old thing, she breaks da law.
So this is like buying a car insurance cover after being involved in a crash, and the company still repairs it?
a real good deal then.
essentially fixing your repair costs with this.
