I always want the normal sized version of this but from experience it's hard to finish one without going off the flavour completely so this mini version should appeal to allot of people who just want a sensible portion for Christmas

Actually, the weight is 950gms - Aldi got it wrong in the advertising!

This does tempt me as we have avoided them due to the amount of meat on a full leg. Thanks.
Heat thanks Op,any idea how long it's OK for if I don't cut it open for a bit ?
Nice - but when you consider the amount of actual usable ham (excluding the bone) on this, wouldn't you be better off buying it loose? Even from Waitrose?

Good question but not sure. I'd be inclined to cover it in cling film.

It's hard to tell but I don't think this smaller version has a bone. If not it'd probably go a pretty long way
I wonder if this will be labelled as Halal?

Hi, just to help you out, this cut has no bone so you have all meat. Jamon serrano does last a long time after its open, as long as you have it covered it will be ok. If you do see mould, don´t worry, its typical on jamones.
Hope this helps you.

I wonder why you are so stupid.
In Spain they just cover it with a teatowel.

That's what I thought was the correct procedure too.

A quick Google would reveal that Aldi have done this before on pork products.

don't cover with cling film, as that makes the meat "sweat" and that will cause mould

Heat OP. I have always wanted one of these, but @ £40.00 couldn't justify it.
A few thin slices costs about £3.00 so this is a bargain.

Someone that thinks ham is halal is stupid at any level. There's a big difference between pork as an ingredient in something else and a big lump of pig flesh labelled ham.
Definitely use muslin or a tea towel. In clingfilm it will sweat and get mouldy. It lasts years, but needs to be dry. Salt will come to the surface, so you will get white patches, but if dry that is salt , not mould.

...... wait - has anyone suggested its because of the knife
M&S have a full size pata negra that looks awesome but its 7kg which is a little much for me so this will do for me.
Thanks for the heads up - my parents bought the big one last year and it was great..lasted months. The sort of size is more reasonable for me though, thats lunch done for a few months

Waitrose Serrano ham is over £40/kg, Aldi £14/kg, even if this was a third bone (which it looks like it isn't) then it would still be better value - fill yer boots!

7kg is quite a lot.

If you want to be very silly/stupid (delete as appropriate) when on holiday in Spain take the hire car to Seròn to view how the hams are made. Next get drawn in so much that a lovely Spanish man is loading a 12.5kg full leg ham into the back seat (would not fit in boot) and taking €100 off you.
When you get back to the apartment you realise you fly home in 2 days and "What the hell am I doing" hits you. After several beers you sell it for €40 to the bar man having not eaten any of it and now €60 out of pocket.

But nobody is that stupid, right!?
Was tempted to buy the big one for my mum but we've never tried it before and they are quite steep. Saw this little mini one in the Aldi brochure, pretty darn good and comes with stand and knife so will make a good xmas pressie!

Mind you if I find these sold out of Thursday I would still probably get the £35 big one!
This will do the job.

Might even get 2 and keep one for later.

If the LIdl Iberico go on offer under £50 might get one of those(currently £100).

I think he was being sarcastic in the "haha wouldn't it be funny if they accidentally labelled this obviously pork containing product as Halal, too?" kind of way.

Whilst I don't think he's gonna be winning any comedy awards anytime soon, I don't think he deserved the PC Brigade either.
