Could you elaborate please? I've been thinking of getting something like this, but never even saw it at anyone's home. How does it (not) works, any disadvantages etc.?

They really are a cost effective item despite the relatively high cost of pouches. I use mine for Sous Vide cooking but either way if used for portioning they do keep the food so much fresher. In particular fresh veg will last way longer but the line is drawn with anything containing moisture. Its not rocket science and the vacuum effect will draw moisture into the machine rendering the sealing process incomplete. Spend a few hundred pounds on the typical ones you see on masterchef and sure, you can do the full monty. I reckon this model is way overpriced and is not the bargain it appears.

Ive recommended this model to many home chefs and not heard a bad word back.

The pouches that work best are the ones which are patterned on one side. The pattern side face up when doing the business ;-)

When people continue not to listen, or act, the only possibility of achieving action is to shout louder and longer.

Apparently a lot of so called recyclable stuff just gets burnt anyway. A relative couldn't go on the outing but said the people from the local U3A group went to a recycling plant. Those who went were shocked to find out all the stuff taken from the resident recycling bins got set alight and was burnt at the recycling plant. What then is the point in having to sort it into different boxes if it is just all getting put on a big bonfire at a recycling plant?!

As it stands, that doesn't make sense. How are tin cans or glass bottles 'set alight'?

I'm assuming it was something like a furnace/incinerator but perhaps some things like metal did get separately sorted, although I wasn't there to see it with my own eyes. I did ask my relative some more probing questions (was a few months ago) when I was informed and they couldn't answer as they didn't know. I think I asked my relative to query with some of the those who went on the outing at the next meeting but my relative may have forgotten to at the time or maybe that group didn't meet for sometime afterwards.

It seems they burn stuff to make electricity due to not wanting to/being able to process the plastic waste.
