Sainsbury's are offering 1000 bonus Nectar points on pre-orders of these two consoles - just about enough for a packet of crisps and an Um Bongo - as well as 10% pre-order of many popular E3 games: hotukdeals.com/vou…762

Hoping this hasn't been posted before. Might be handy for anyone who collect the points, instead of just pre-ordering on Amazon.

Update: You also get the usual 858/698 points you would normally get for pre-ordering the Xbox One/PS4

Ps4 link: sainsburysentertainment.co.uk/en/…cro

According to the T&Cs: "No funds will be taken from your card/account until the goods are despatched. In the event that there is a price drop, see Pre-Order Price Promise below, a lower price will be charged."

1000 points is £5 I think, so better than nothing.

Super deal pre ordered PS4 As the Xbox one is crap and microsoft has killed it cannot even lend your friend games and has to be online at least once a day !!

Yeah 1000 points is £5, plus staff discount means I'll pre-order here. Can always cancel it if I find it cheaper elsewhere but I doubt it. Still date to be confirmed, is it definitely coming out this year over here?

Well, 99% of xbox users don't lend games out, and play online anyway, so nothing changes. It just sounds radical and stupid.

Wow. You don't have a clue do you?

Tons of my friends trade their 360 games and over 45% of 360's have never been connected to the Internet. Look it up.

My friends are all switching to PS4 with good reason.

And the XboxOne will allow you to trade games as well as part exchange them. Also the second hand market generates less than one tenth the revenue of the first hand market even with higher margins. Your friends are not representative of the global market.

The used game market actually made up 25% of Gamestops income. Around 1 billion dollars if I remember correctly. Just saying!

75 million xbox 360 sold, only 40 million on xbox live..read that earlier and was pretty surprised! Barely even half as you said

That's a bit of a naive comment to make surely?

How do you k ow 99% of Xbox users don't lend their games out?

And how much are you going to get for your old games?
I'm going to guess it'll be worse rates than at CEX. This is Microsoft after all.
That's one thing I won't be looking forward to.

You pay £55+ for a game in which you pray the game is worth it because you cannot trade it in, take it back or do anything to sell it on. They have 46m XBL subscribers and console sales figures of 75m+ meaning around 1/3rd of people don't pay for an XBL subscription. So your '99% of xbox users play online anyway' statement is laughable.

+ the MS Xbox 360 games on demand service is laughable. Logically you would assume that the game in question would be cheaper considering you have no physical copy of the disk to sell on but no 99% of the GoD games are massively overpriced in comparison with the physical copy of the disk.

does anyone know if you can spend your nectar points online when you order?Got like £50 worth and thinking of using them up on a ps4 pre order

75 million sold over 8 years. You wouldn't expect 50% to still be active after all that time.

I had 3 die and replaced in first 2 years. I've since had a few jtags and another die on me which is in the loft.

I've probably had 8 over the years but only 2 are on Xbox Live.

If anyone can't see past Microsoft's pure greed then they're an idiot.

my 360 and ps3 have always been connected so no big deal there, difference now is that I have to buy a PSN sub to play online on the PS4. Will still get both though as I enjoy games. So good deal for me, thanks

Exactly... and then they grumble about piracy... I'll buy one when they can be flashed.

Nice deal, but put me down as another 360 owner who won't be buying an Xbone. In fact, of the 20+ 360 owners that I know, not one plans on buying Xbone...

Correct the stats are always going to skewed (I know that!) but on that logic you would still expect Xbox live subscriptions to be somewhat closer to the number sold. I'm also on my 3rd Xbox, have multiple Xbox live accounts (though one primary.) I'm pretty sure some people have 1 Xbox and multiple accounts (and Vice versa)

That's a big gap either way! I've gone through multiple because they died on me (If the number sold is skewed with failure rate being a big factor that isn't good is it.. hence I'm 'pretty surprised')

No one has as much contempt for gamers as Microsoft. I recommend any console/PC, bar the Xbox One. It truly is a disgusting device.

I can't remember the last time I went a day without going online.

Sony were arrogant at the launch of the PS3 and MS were humble and did very well. This time its the other way round, bizarre. Xbox One has 2nd hand games massively restricted, heavy DRM requiring connection every 24 hours otherwise the console is unplayable. My friend is in the Army and simply doesn't have a connection most of the time when he's out based in foreign countries. I'd love to meet the executives in charge of making these crazy decisions. What were they thinking?!

At moment im heading towards ps4, currently on Xbox .

First off: I'm still undecided on my next gen choice, but...

You people moaning about the 'second hand games market' are aware that Sony have left it up to the developers as to whether they allow them to be traded in? I'll pretty much guarantee that the larger companies such as Activision, EA and Ubisoft will prevent it.

Sony have played it safe in my opinion. The PS4 is just a PS3+1. The XB1 is a machine. It integrates features that even I get baffled at. Furthering that, the £80 extra is just the price for the additional Kinect2 which is included. A feature that will be heavily integrated in to the future of gaming.

EDIT: Also, heat for the deal.

does that make the xbox one an xbox 360-359?

Ah, a very witty comment. Well done.

Have a cookie.

won't be trading in games. Have constant internet connection. Xbox for me. simply for the fact XBL is very reliable and can't really moan at £25ish a year for a sub. (if you watch for the deals)

Not so much of a deal when you can't even preorder most of the Next Gen games on that site. Most of them look like this:

Incorrect, Sony have confirmed 100% that the only DRM that they're allowing third party publishers to impose is on the multiplayer sections of games using the existing online pass system. Since both Sony and EA have both confirmed they are scrapping this system going forward, and Activision and Ubisoft never used it in the first place your statements are just completely false.

Source? here and here and here

BIG difference to how the Xbox One is handling things, hence the moaning etc

How many out of the 40 million are on their 2nd or 3rd or even 4th Xbox 360 though, due to the notorious red ring of death. Meaning that 1 account could have been using more than 1 xbox over the years as their fail rate was quite high so that statistic doesn't really mean anything

(Not trying to defend the xbox at all as I'm pretty much a Playstation fanboy )

I have literally lost count of how many 360's I've had since 2005.

I'm not anti-xbox or a PS lover boy lol I have both! But the vast majority of people I know have gone through at least 1 Xbox (especially the original cream one if they brought that model.) Anyway this has gone off the subject lol heat for the OP from me, as it is a good deal if your buying one and can get some nectar points!

EA have already said they won't prevent used games sales and are currently removing online passes from any current game that has them.
Ubisoft have had DRM bite them in the **** before before they reversed the decision, I doubt they'll make the same mistake again.
Activiation are a potential risk if they get a bit too cocky with CoD.

At least there're options though.

But how many of those consoles likely have more than one account on it for other members of the household or friends that pop over?

Back on topic - good deal, but I might wait until we know a little more about both consoles before ordering. I really, really, REALLY hope that Sony keeps up the white knight bit, but I have a horrible feeling that there's a sting yet to come. Hope I'm wrong though

Cold, you can get an Xbox 1 for a tenner in cash converters

Trying telling the people using CEX, that store always has ridiculous queues when I walk past it lol They offer a high trade value but they again their products are overpriced so one hand feeds the other
