Maybe you confused him with David Gemmell from Hastings, another great fantasy author of the period.

Was about to read White Wolf funnily enough, posted recently on HUKD. He died in 2006. Not confused but do like picking the dead authors clearly! amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1
Both great authors Eddings and Gemmell, love them both, well worth reading again and again.
well worth it, love the series,n other world fantasy so it cannot age. You will not be disapointedThe Magic Kingdom series is brilliant too
I only just read the belgarad series recently and loved them. How do these compare?

This is book one of The Belgariad. Did you mean to refer to something else?

Remarkably similar, since Pawn of Prophecy is book one of the Belgariad

Great books, probably my favourite series ever.

Hahaha. My mistake. I really should not peruse hukd straight before bed. In that case. Excellent series. Also the prequels belgarath the sorcerer and polgara the sorcerer are fantastic reads!
Read these as a kid and loved them. Although, got to say, now that I'm a bit older and having read Martin, Erikson, etc. these do seem a bit childish. Dragonlance is another one that hasn't aged well.
Probably the best fantasy series I've ever read but that was as a 16 year old. Agree it has aged a bit as I'm now in my 30s but hoping it will get picked up by a film studio one day.

Eddings made the news when he accidentally burned down his garage by throwing a lit piece of paper into some gasoline that had leaked from his car...

That was "dumb" Oddly enough my first blu-ray was Excalibur, saw Dame Helen Mirren and Liam Neeson on Graham Norton the other evening joking about the film.
