Going to have to counter that.

One of the worst companies I've ever dealt with.

Had a HUGE data breach, many customers had their details stolen and thousands spent on their cards (Personally had £6k spent on one of mine, thank god I used Amex).
These guys denied it was them and blocked people that were highlighting issues with their site and payments system.
Rather than send an email making their customers aware they kept quiet and denied everything.

They recently got fined for the breach.

Even if they've changed I'd still avoid them, I doubt their way of thinking has changed much.

Most moronic post I've read on here for a while. Well done.

Been using these guys ever since LoveFilm stopped doing game rentals and I've never had a major issue with them.

Despite the data breach (which hasn't impacted my bank details what so ever from what I can tell), these guys are extremely helpful and a pleasure doing business with.
They might not have every single game available (there are a few which are on my list but unavailable for over year), but none the less I have saved £££s, pushed my trophy level crazy high and has broadened the type of games I play thanks to these guys.

No plan on cancelling anytime soon

Thank god you use Amex, unless they (your credit card company) can prove you used the card you are covered with any credit card provider.

I joined, thought it was a great idea, kept a game since april, not played it once, cant be bothered looking for it so Ive just paid 7.99 to keep it and cancelled my £5 a month subscription - 47.99 for a game Ive not even played.

Worth also bearing in mind that the free trial does not include games released in the last 6 months.

1. Signs up for trial (£10.99 Authorisation charged to card)
2. Tries to rent game.
3. Told to upgrade or end free trial to rent said game.
4. Question in the chat window as to why I can't rent said game, to be told that anything newer than 3 months old isn't available in the trial, and that I would have to pay to rent. Although this isn't made immediately apparent when taking your card details (of course its in the small print).
5. Proceeds to ask for account to be cancelled after the 21 days to avoid a charge.
6. Account gets cancelled with immediate effect instead.
7. 10/10 would sign up to subscription money trap again.

On a serious note, this is good if you are happy to try the service, and are content with older games, just make sure you remember to cancel before your 21 days are up! I am always weary of companies intentions when they make it overly difficult to cancel subscriptions (Make you call, email or enter into a chat).

I think a pre-paid credit card would be good for this service, considering the concerns about security.

I use them and joined recently but not had any issues. I pay on a monzo card so instant notifications in case something goes a miss and I receive all games on release day. COD:WW2 was sent this morning and Assassins creed arrived when expected. Just remember to give yourself plently of time to return a game before a new release in case royal mail have issues,I have posted 2 games back at once before one was next day the other took 4 days!

Would plug my referral but it's against HUKD rule even though they can't make anything anyway!

P.S. I will admit the trial is a bit rubbish though!

Been using them for almost a year, no complaints for me.

Don't touch this company with a barge poll they lost a game or it got lost in post so i was not going to take this risk again and cancelled they then said i had to stay with them for 3 month to cover the cost of the game they lost needless to say i told them too get stuffed bunch of crooks

This is why I always read comments on deals. Thanks for sharing.

What are the best ps4 games available on the £3.99 package?
Edited by: "PrimusInterPares" 2nd Nov

Don't bother. Didn't send me games for 3 weeks, charged me 5 MONTHS FEE when it should be just the month and didn't reply to any of my emails. Worst company ever

I recommend Boomerang to anyone... been with em for years now, never any issues... don't listen to others... i would say... best thing to give a try for a month and then judge it urself.. rather than listening to some here...

Thanks for the warnings, not for me.

Yup, they are crap. Avoid them!

Is this just the same as the trial they have always offered?

Also I fully recommend Boomerang to buy and rent from. Nothing but great service from them.

But there was no evidence of a breach? It was all just speculation.
Just playing devil's advocate, the entirety of the rumour came from a single accusation on Reddit that others picked up on. There was no evidence that Boomerang Rentals had been hacked (unless through deceit or technical ineptitude they buried it all, which would be criminal) and the users on Reddit were connected by far more strands than a single company; incl. multiple ongoing UK phone and utilities breaches (seriously, we all need to be more concerned about this.)

Boomerang's perceived culpability appeared to be from them taking down their website for a couple days in order to investigate and step up their security in response to this, which actually sounds like a pretty reasonable move for a business to address such concerns.

I couldn't speak about them blocking people; that sounds unnecessary, though couldn't find any evidence of this. It's not the most unreasonable action if people were making unsubstantiated claims against a business, though.

On the other hand, it could all be true and they could've lied and deceived everyone, including the bank's fraud departments or just been so bad at computing/the hacker so good that genuinely no-one could find anything.
Problem is, wouldn't it have made more sense for them to admit culpability, have the insurance pay the damages, then close shop and rebrand/liquidate the storefront in order to reopen under a new name sans bad press?

Wouldn't normally do this but I'm not a big fan of conjecture masquerading as fact.

Devil's advocate end.
Peace.

On the other hand, they keep their Nintendo Switch games in the Wii U section so I can't possibly trust a games site that doesn't list consoles properly.

As much as I love Boomerang, their website is just atrocious.

Can't fault them. Saved loads over the years.

Yeah like not listening to you. Gotcha

Also used them for a couple of years, no issues to report.

been with them for around 6 months now, fantastic service, has saved me a ton of money on games, recently got shadow of war just a week after release and upon completion would have cost me just £10 too play it. Sure you dont keep the game, but if like me you rarely go back and play old titles then this is a no brainier.

Also when i had one issue of my game taking a long time to return they credited my account with bonus points and sent out the next game before receiving the old one, best decision i made as a gamer too go with these guys

Been using them for years, since LoveFilm stopped. Never had any issues.
Sometimes you get new games a few days after release. Last time I got Uncharted Lost Legacy on the second day of release

I highly recommend them.

I've also been with them on and off for a couple of years, no issues at all for me. I've found there customer service to be excellent.
As for this deal, it's the norm isn't it? They have always had the free trial, there is also a free months rental available if you recommend someone who joins up aswell (and has a paid subscription)

I would like to try the service but not alerting customers to a data breach is red flag, if they did that after March next year the fine would bankrupt them... And so it should.

With EA access being so cheap and free monthly sub games, don't even know why places like this are so relevant, giving the history

Is EA access available on PS4? Can you get the latest games that hit the shelves on free monthly sub games? Can you rent portable games for the Vita and 3DS without sites like this? If not, then "places"(?) like this are completely relevant...

Love everyone being mardy. I've saved loads if you like playing a lot of games it's great. If you play 4 a year then it's not for you simple

Great company. Always send games out quick after posting back. Must have rented 30 games in the last few months with no hassle at all.

It’s like anything - some people have issues and some don’t. Try it for yourself. Personally had no issues with these at all. Saves money!

Latest games that hit the shelves? By the time your to the top of the queue for a 'new' game, that game is probably a year old. And I got plenty of new vita games on Psn plus, when Vita wag in its prime so...
I stand corrected on 3ds, but the rest holds no real argument. All the best

Not all the time, there are some games which have been on my list for a long period but there are many games I have received the moment they're released. Perhaps you've just been very unlucky in the games that get sent through to you. And you're right about Vita games, but it's only beneficial if you have a massive memory card (which I don't), so renting them is the best method for me. Oh, and you forgot the EA access thing I mentioned which does hold a real argument, not an awful lot us PS4 gamers can do about that...

Suppose what our discussion has proved is that the service isn't for everyone, but for someone like me the service is a god send which have saved me a heck a tonne of money and has allowed me to play countless games most could never achieve through traditional means (and great if you're a trophy whore, but I don't care about that)
