Not a mega bargain, however some people might be able to make use of this.
Boots (instore) have currently a promotion on some drinks - buy one, get one free.
This is applicable to Fanta / Sprite / Dr. Pepper and some other drinks.

If you buy a meal deal for £2.99, you can get 2 bottles of the above drinks instead of just one, I bought this earlier today without any problems - staff was pleasantly surprised it went through the till without any problem.

Current offer of buy 5 meals get the 6th free, will run apparantly in August as well!

i like the fact the meal deal includes the massive packets of haribo! (think its any snack worth under £1.99 or something, either way they go through)

I can confirm this as i did it yesterday..

Yours gonna have to buy for your mates to get your 6th meal free with the expiry date of the 31/07/08:roll:

oh, im not bothered about that, i just got my boots card, haha

I assume you didnt watch dispatches last night? saying that Boots did fair well but it did put me off shelf butties.

no, i dont have time for TV unfortunately,

If that dispatches told you anything you didn't already know then you must be pretty daft frankly. "My 99p sandwich doesn't use premium cuts of chicken? NO!"

That said, it was a horribly biased doc. Boots "did well" because they don't do any sandwiches that are that interesting. If you restricted it to the sandwiches they all do then it'd be more even. They did well on calories because their chicken with added water obviously contains less calories and salt that a proper chicken one does. etc etc.

And (for instance) while that meatball sub has 9 packets of crisps worth of salt, that's still less salt per 100g in the sub.

It isnt a glitch, it has always been apart of the meal deal that any buy 1 fet 1 frees are also included.

The world ends

I was going to go to Boots at lunch, good job I read this before!

The title should possibly say "from £2.99" as the meal deal price in central London is £3.49...

A Boots staff member actually told me about a year ago to go for the "2 for 1" deal as it goes through in the meal deal. I've been doing it ever since. I have about 4 extra bottles of Sprite from the latest promotion.

If it's "buy 2 for £1.50" then the second one will go through at 75p. I've tried this before on a "2 for £1.69" deal - it went through at 84p for a £1 drink - not the 69p I was hoping for... But a cheap experiment nonetheless...

On this basis, you might expect the current sprite/dr pepper/irn bru promo to go through at 53p for the second bottle (as the others are £1.07 in my boots, except the irn bru which is 99p). The till did actually do this once and asked for £3.99 until I queried it - the cashier was confused as to why it had gone through at that price as well. She ran the items through again and it went back to £3.49.

No it isn't a glitch. They are just generous. Bogofs are always completely free. The way a 2 for £x works is that the higher item is included in the cost of the meal deal and you pay for the difference between that and the offer price. Say if 2 drinks were a £1 each or £1.50 for 2 then you should only get charged 50p for the 2nd drink.

The particular store person that they spoke to probably just didn't know their stuff. That is the way that meal deal offers have worked for at least a year or so.

London prices and offers are different because of much higher overheads.

this has been true for years. I always do it

you are right about the above it used to be that if you got a deal say 2 for £1.50 that the meal deal would take off say £1.30 for one bottle and u got the other bottle for 20p. eg £2.99 plus 20p £3.19 but now they only takle 75p into account the meal deal so you pay £2.99 plus 75p very sneaky i spoke to a manager about this and he agreed and refunded me the money!

Just did it at lunch, got two bottles of Irn Bru in the deal. Bargain!

thats why glitch is in ' '

anywhoo, thanks for the heads up on this guys, repped people who i felt needed it!

Thanks - I hadn't realised they were included - HOT

Any "Snack" up to the value of £1.45 is included I believe, so you can get a £1.09 bag of Maltesers in or one of the medium Cadburys size bars too.

The meal deal is done in the order scanned, so you can add a clearance drink on last and get it as an extra.

If your a member of the health club you get half price liter bottles of boots water too. If they are on 2 for £1.50 for example you get both for 75p ish... (or 28p each with staff disc :))

Hmm, tried to do this deal this morning, but it came up to £4.14! I live in London btw... this is what I tried:

2x Ribena - saving £1.30 - now £1.30

Sandwich - £2.80
Cake - £1.10
saving £1.06 - now £2.84

Total : £4.14.

How can this be??

I bought in London this afternoon and got the BOGOF along with my meal for £3.49

Just went into boots today and the BOGOF was no longer on

if you do the 2 cokes for 1.50 you don't get charged the difference (50p ish) you get charged 75p, i.e half the offer price

did it last week out of interest!
