ScreenCancer - Mole Scanning Service - Let's take a closer look
Help to check out your moles
Hi Kevin,

Do you have a mole that you’re concerned about? We can help. Boots has partnered with medical specialists, ScreenCancer UK, to offer a Mole Scanning Service*. It’s an easy, quick, and completely painless process delivered in selected stores, in a private consultation room.

While most moles are benign (non-cancerous), the Mole Scanning Service can help identify moles that need further investigation, which could lead to the detection of skin cancer (malignant melanoma).
Here's how it works
Our specially trained pharmacy staff use modern imaging technology to check moles you’re concerned about. They’ll send the images to ScreenCancer UK, where they will be analysed by a dermatology specialist. You’ll receive the results within 2 weeks. If there’s anything out of the ordinary, ScreenCancer UK will call to advise you and talk about the next steps – like visiting your GP.

It costs £35 for your first mole and £15 for each mole after that. To book your consultation,
go online. Or come in to the Warrington Gemini Retail Park store and talk to our friendly pharmacy staff

cool didnt even know it was tbh never had one just thought might be useful for someone...
Go to the doctors! Don't go to a shop, especially not one like Boots. Pharmacists are great at some stuff, but things like this really need to be done by a trained doctor.
It is good but if your really concerned about it go to the doctors! I had 2 removed a few years ago 'cosmetically' to begin with as they were both deemed as normal, until they were removed and tested. 1 came back to have minor malignant cells which if left would have developed into skin cancer at some point! Get them checked! And wear at least 50spf suncream on them in the sun!

Hi, did you have the moles removed via NHS or private, and how much did it cost?. I have a few that cosmetically 'look' normal but i am a little concerned and would like them removed.
Thanks.
I'm worried about my gf's garden. She has a large mound in the middle of it. The lady at Boots told her it was probably a mole but better let the RSPCA deal with. We're in a quandary now as I'm not sure its ethical to take her to a Vet but the GP is so arrogant she knows he'll try to put her down for wasting his time.
Shame this isn't the full mapping service.

GP will only check specific moles. Some places (not this offer) will map and image all moles on your body. They then review for suspicious moles and future scans are compared against previous scans to identify changes. Usually about £2-300 though.
If you are worried about one see your doctor, you have to have an appointment in 14 days from the visit to the doctor. Had to see a specialist myself just over a week ago, 13 days to see them, appointment was at 2.10pm, saw the specialist at 2.15 mole removed by 3.30 that day, results back 6 days later luckily all ok. Why risk it, go and see the doctor.

Sorry just seen this. Had them done at my doctors! I just went and asked and they agreed! They were decent sized though. Was done in minor surgery in the same place. Wasn't pleasant but soon over and done with!
