I'm not a massive wine buff, but my father in law is. If it tastes horrendous.. Who cares? They look fancy.
Generally, Aldi wine scores quite high in blind tasting so fingers crossed these are worth it.
The original price was £27.99.

From the website:

A limited edition gift case containing an exclusive collection of 3 classic French Bordeuax wines with beautiful metallic labels.

Alexis Lichine Bordeaux Superieur - Nice and structured, with flavors of cherry and vanilla. The finish is long and pleasant and perfect with game, red meat or a cheese platter.

Chateau de Cathalogne - Balanced between acidity and roundness with notes of citrus fruits and pineapple. Delicious with platters of shellfish, grilled fish.

Chateau Grand Plantey - Fruity, ample and well-balanced with light tannins. Ready to drink and great when a companied with rabbit, lamb, game or strong cheeses.

I'd spend the money on 3 bottles of their Cremant de Jura. 8.29 per bottle at the moment. It's terrific.
Cheap wine tarted up to justify a ridiculous mark up.

In all fairness, every single thing you buy has a ridiculous mark up. This equates to the cost of standard French red wine. Its not overly expensive for what it is. No idea the quality of the wine but aldi are typically quite good.

Plus if the website reviews are to be trusted, it scores pretty high.

I\d still got for the Cremant Nick, if he likes that sort of thing. It really is very good.

Thanks for the reccomendation, perhaps I will return them. I only popped In for 32 Yr brandy offer.
The wooden box is rather flimsy from the few I picked up in aldi to have a look.
Does feel like a nice Xmas gift looking at it though.
Cool. Also apparently their bog standard Oliver Cromwell gin is really good too. If you like sweet wines for Christmas, go for the Botrytis Semillon for either 5 or 6.99, can't remember which. That's really nice too.

I have heard they have a nice award winning Tokaji, I'm much more of a whisky person, unfortunately, I don't know much about wine.
I have yet to find the Tokaji. They have not had it in the one near me. The other night two blokes were raving about a blended malt called Hogwash.
I had to ring up and travel a fair few miles to find the brandy. May be worth ringing, they are quite good at checking and reserving bottles. And I haven't heard of hogwash. I've spent thousands on whisky this year, don't think the missus will be too happy with another

Yeah the Cremant is good, if I have to pick something from Aldi it’s that or the Alsace Pinot Gris.
