Was in my local one last night and things seem to be either 30% or 50% off not UPTO but actually 30 or 50..

I got loads of stuff!!

Shame, I really liked that shop!

P.S my local store was Speak..

I got cards, picture frames, stationary and a few books..

Birmingham Bull Ring and Oxford are the same.

Got a couple of books on Sunday at 40% off both, almost BOGOF.

again. bit confused. If you by a store, you can get really good prices on books etc...

I know it's a sad thing that a nice store is closing but you want deals and they have a lot. yet you vote cold.

Your a stange bunch of people at times!

Probably because most people have been aware of this for ages. Not the deal, just a bit old news.

Don't lose sight of the fact that Borders are reducing the cover price. If you want a book then get the online price then see what Borders are charging

eg Letts A2 Chemistry Study Guide
amazon.co.uk/gp/…877

£6.49 with free delivery from Amazon but £6.49 if you buy it at Borders including your 40% discount.....

Yeah, this is cold as most books are no cheaper than Amazon and it is pure luck if there is anything you like. I bought some business books at 50% off and they were only marginally less than Amazon. It is a shame they are closing as I loved the wide magazine range and sitting having a starbucks but the way books are sold has changed.

Agree with this all the way... also, the Charing Cross Borders is already at 40-60% off. I spoke to an employee there who said it would definitely go lower, but it will become impossible to find anything (soooooo I stashed a couple books away instore)

Lol, I stashed a few pricey things away in Woolies last year as I knew it was going from 40% off to 60% off the next day and when I went back in they had moved everything around so the stashed goodies had been found, moved and bought by someone else. Ah well, was worth a try :-D

Not strange at all really

1. It's extremely old news
2. Even with 30% off (And even 50%!), Borders is so overpriced that most items are not 'deals' anyway.

If you don't want people voting cold, I suggest you find better deals.

Borders is closing?
First Elvis dies & now this!

Fulham Broadway branch is 60-80% off and the paperchase franchise is selling off their things too.

I went to our local store on Sunday, one book I wanted was still more expensive in Borders with 40% off than it was in Asda last week. That could be why they are in financial difficulties.

Yes, tis' a tragedy that Borders is closing...the magazines/coffee were the highlight of my week. Nowhere else offers anything similar except maybe the odd branch of Waterstones but the range of magazines is far less.
