Brushed motor and only 1.5 amp hour batteries
Original Poster
It'd be perfect for what I need it for, casual DIY work. In fact, it's probably more powerful than I'd actually need. Flat pack furniture and replacing doors! ha

I suspect a similar kit with a brushless motor would come in way above this though

Just what I was after. Ordered, thanks OP. B&Q list at £55 but no stock anywhere as far as I can tell, Amazon list at around £130

Edit... My local wickes didn't actually have any, so order cancelled unfortunately.

Please don't tell me they are counting each screw as +1 on the "accessory" kit
I would probably buy
hotukdeals.com/dea…055
and sell off the impact wrench
leaving you with a descent trade quality(?) drill with a 4ah battery
They are great drills have had mine over 6 years. Batteries are still like new.
People whine on about Brush Motors... having gone through lots of Drills, the Motors aren't the first thing to go, the batteries are, which at that point you may as well then buy a combo again.

Spot on my ten year old makita has never had new brushes or any motor issues and runs just fine, for the five minutes the batteries now last

I've got a really old one of these... Can I just confirm the weird electrical burning smell that's been coming from it the last year is probably the motor going?

crabby
Thanks to OP. Picked up one in Stafford this afternoon. The case is good quality with plenty of extra bits included.
About as weak a battery as you can buy, plus 1 hour charge time. That's a big no from me

But it comes with 2 batteries and is only £75! This would suit most people, however, it does only have a 10 mm chuck, which limits the size of bits you can use, although likely to need something more powerful anyway if need to use larger bits.
I picked this up, its a good piece of kit.

I wouldn't use this for drilling through masonry because it's just not powerful enough. Great for putting up pictures, curtail rails, screw driving, plasterboard fitting, wood screwing etc.

It's actually fine for masonry, small holes at least. Drill bits come loose when you use the hammer setting for prolonged periods though!

That issue was with the original PSB 18 LI2. I has been fixed in the new version and this smaller PSB 1800. I sold my original one because of that exact problem and now have the two newer versions and have never experienced the issue.

It is not worth it, the batteries are junk and as you have added the chuck is only 10mm. There are cheaper ways to hang a picture hook which is about all that drill will do,.

Yeah, theoretically, but it's not fixed for me. This is regardless an excellent drill for general DIY.

how do you tell the new and old one apart?

how do you tell the new and old one apart?

The smaller PSB 1800 is easy enough by the fact it's 1800 rather than 18. The newer PSB 18 has a silvery metal section at the back as well as not having a detachable grip and depth gauge. Also the chuck is less streamlined.

Regardless of DIY v Professional range and brushed this and that, getting the Drill, 2 batteries and all the accessories, with a 3yr guarantee, for £67.50 is a hot deal in my book any day of the week! Clicked and Collected...Thanks DarrylJohn!
Just picked one up £67.50 code Sept17 for extra 10% off.

Bits are a bit cheap though and slip. Nothing near my 160NM triton impact driver (when it comes to driving screws)

I know, different kettle of fish.

Just saying.
Great bit of kit had one for over 5 years batteries are still like new and I have used it alot.
