Guys,

I am big fan of BOSCH Products, but I would not buy a BOSCH Cordless Vacuum Cleaner again!.

WHY: The battery on these lasts just over 2 years (same as warranty) and after that the battery does not holds charge for more than 2-3 mins, making them useless. You cannot replace battery on these Vacuum Cleaner!.

I had Bosch BCH6ATH1GB Premium Athlet Upright Vacuum Cleaner, for just over 2 years and although it works, the Battery does not hold more than 2-3 min charge making it useless.

Called Bosch and I am told that the Battery cannot be bought and the Engineer visit costs me £110 + repair, making no economic sense.

So basically you are throwing away a nicely working (Motor/suction) Vacuum cleaner in the bin, just becoz the battery does not hold charge.

I am more concerned about the impact to the environment this has. When every major manufacturer are trying to do their bit for the environment, I am really disappointed that BOSCH is still selling these Vacuum cleaner where the battery cannot be replaced.

There are other good/known brands, who are giving 2 years warranty on Battery and you can replace the battery easily.

My honest opinion here and if this can change one buyers opinion, I would take that as a worth while effort from me!.

Got an older model and it’s been great around the house the last 3 years. Very tempted to update..
I've got this, it's brilliant. Very good suction and well worth it at this price.
Go with the bosch flexxo. Slightly more expensive but much more versatile. Had one a couple weeks since my Athlet died. Quieter and lighter too.

thanks..
Easy to buy the batteries.. but definitely not a DIY job to replace this involves Soldering etc to replace the batteries. Happy to be proved wrong.

I mean that's my plan after when warranty expires. Of course involves soldering too. So far excellent performance

Agree with everyone talking about waste I can’t believe these are so popular, had a couple of these myself before the penny dropped about the sheer wastage element.

To be fair most cordless vacs batteries are done after 2 years, mainly from daily use,but as you point out batteries cannot be replaced without engineer call out plus repair sucks. Its like the washing machine parts warrantys that can only be fitted by their engineers with a min call out in there £100's."SUCKS" pardon the pun.

Thanks, will go for a shark or Dyson thanks
I have this vacuum. It's okay.
It''s useless for cleaning the car or in nooks and crannies in the home.
Also the connection between the switch and motor is where the handle connects to the main part of the vacuum so over time the electrical connection becomes worn and switches on and off whilst your using it. I'd buy this again if it £80

Same case with Dyson. Around 25 mins on normal run. Powerful run lasts 10 minutes and after 2 yeras battery doesnt do the job properly. On powerful option, vacuum doesn't run at all. Too high replacement costs. We are all cheated by their fancy advertising campaigns.

The turbo switch on mine went after about 18 months. Bosch engineer visited and replaced the handle under warranty and also replaced the motor for some reason.

About three weeks out of warranty, the roller stopped rotating. Followed YouTube video and fixed cable that runs between motor and brush head.

The roller is a magnet for collecting hairs. But at least it removes them from the carpet.
