Great price

Fantastic price.....

Just remember if you want a frost-free version, it will be more than this.....

Bargain price for what it is, and efficiency A too

Which? review gave this 55%

bosch is the best you can get!!! hot at this price

they even make the fuel pumps in volkswagens / audis / bmw / mercs so...they are pro:-D

Take that with a pinch of salt.

Taken from a quote in The Independent:-
"Best Buys", the Indesit BAN1NF, costs just £250. It scored 79 per cent in Which?'s tests.

So if Which? are giving Best Buy awards to Indesit machines then I'd be very wary of any of their percentage ratings.

They need to test a machine properly as in test it in a domestic environment for 12 months then watch it break down in month 13.

So many bad reviews on Hotpoint, Indesit, Beko, Hoover, Whirlpool etc on the web.

This machine might be better than a Which? rating of 55%.

Siemens leads the way, with a reliability score of 96%. And Beko, Liebherr, LG, Neff and Bosch all deliver reliability scores of 91% or above. You’ll find Whirlpool and Samsung at the other end of the reliability index, with scores of 78% and 77% respectively.Two manufacturers’ machines dominated the survey responses we received, with 34% of all responses coming from owners of Bosch and Hotpoint fridge-freezers.Why fridge-freezers break downThe top three reasons why fridge-freezers break down are: thermostat, 69%; door, 18%; internal units, 17%.Fridge-freezer Which? reliability indexBrand Reliability IndexSiemens 96% 96%Beko 95% 95%Liebherr 91% 91%LG 91% 91%Neff 91% 91%Bosch 91% 91%Servis 90% 90%Indesit 90% 90%Hotpoint 90% 90%Candy 88% 88%Electrolux 88% 88%AEG / AEG-Electrolux 88% 88%Hoover 88% 88%Zanussi / Zanussi-Electrolux 87% 87%Miele 87% 87%Whirlpool 78% 78%Samsung 77% 77%Table notesSample sizes: Siemens (110), Beko (270), Liebherr (61), LG (172), Neff (89), Bosch (723), Servis (65), Indesit (83), Hotpoint (559), Candy (81), Electrolux (116), AEG / AEG-Electrolux (59), Hoover (74), Zanussi / Zanussi-Electrolux (229), Miele (112), Whirlpool (176), Samsung (262). My Bosch Logixx was a great machine. It broke after 5 years

The Bosch KGV24V01GB/17 freestanding fridge-freezer is slow to cool and … The Bosch KGV24V01GB/17 freestanding fridge-freezer is slow to cool and freeze. Yet its shelves are evenly cooled, and unaffected by the room temperatures fluctuating. It has no extras - such as automatic defrost. The cooling power of the fridge compartment leaves much to be desired, taking 16 hours to fall below the recommended temperature of 5°C. Slow cooling allows bacteria to grow and can mean food deteriorates faster than expected.Freezing power is also sluggish, freezing a paltry 4kg of fresh food in 24 hours - this is the equivalent of three fresh medium sized chickens. The fridge compartment is cooled extremely evenly, with a variance of 0.6°C across the cabinet, so your food will be kept cold no matter where in the fridge you place it. Poor models can have up to a 6°C difference in temperature from the top to the bottom of the fridge. The thermostat dial is located inside the fridge compartment. This is out of reach of children's inquisitive fingers, but you'll need to open the fridge compartment to adjust it.The manufacturer's recommended setting for this model is fine in the fridge, but a little too warm in the freezer to freeze fresh food effectively. When you initially set up the appliance simply adjust the thermostat dial until you reach -18°C in the freezer and less than 5°C in the fridge - you'll need a thermometer for this.Fluctuations in room temperatures from a sweltering 32°C to a cool 10°C will not adversely affect the food stored in the Bosch. Extreme room temperatures of 32°C will leave the freezer a little too cold to be efficient. By adjusting the thermostat to -18°C, you'll use less power, keeping your electricity bills down. This freezer isn't frost free, so you'll need to manually defrost it. All freezers with more than 3cm of ice will cost more to run. Defrost it when the ice coating the inside of the cabinet gets this deep, to keep it efficient.Pros: Unaffected by swings in room temperatureCons: Freezer slightly too warm on manufacturer's recommended thermostat setting, poor cooling and freezing times, not frost free

Tools are not their strongest point, well Bosch green that is, blue different story.

Guessing your kit would have been of the green brand.

Bosch's of today, are not of the same quality, as Bosch's of yesteryear. Bosch were bought my another company and turned turned into the budget range and Siemens the high end range.

Jayok, thanks for your comprehensive post. Not sure where you are coming from to be honest with all those stats but interesting reading all the same. Does confirm I made the right choice in my latest fridge/freezer acquisition though of a Siemens fridge/freezer I had delivered today with a free 5 year warranty :-D

Can't believe the Beko scored so high. I had a Beko dishwasher which failed after 13 months and convinced me it was a conspiracy. I would like to know how those Which? tests are conducted as in how realistic they are in the real world.

What company is that?
I think you are speaking complete cobblers my friend

The lower end (cheaper) Bosch is most often from the Balay plant in Spain and is NOT made in Germany.

Is that what you mean?

Check the label to make sure it's a German made machine.

I like Bosch as I went for the Logixx machine based on a best buy from Which? I bought a frost free Electrolux when my Bosch broke last month. The Siemens is out of my price range at the moment.

Still not sure where you are coming from? You like Bosch now?... then decided to try an Electrolux?

It's all a bit of a minefield really but I hope your Electrolux serves you well.

Our Bosch wash machine went on for 10 years, then our John Lewis one was a write-off after 2.5 years. However, with a 3 year warranty they gave us the 450 credit to buy again. This time I spent a couple of hundred more and got a Miele with a 10 year parts & labour guarantee. Bosch are a good make, but a good free extended warranty will pay dividends on any white goods.

According to Which?, there are no current Bosch models that get into their Best Buy category. I bought a Electrolux that is in their Best Buy category.

This particular model scores 55% and there are other machines with a similar price that scores better than this machine. I am giving people an independent review of the machine rather than stating 'Bosch are excellent', 'Best fridge freezer' etc

Of course, you are free to ignore Which?

Fridge-freezers: How we testFridge freezer useable spaceMeasuring the … Fridge-freezers: How we testFridge freezer useable spaceMeasuring the cooling capacity of a fridgeCooling power is important for maintaining nutrients in foodTwo fridge freezers with the same external dimension might have up to a 20% difference in useable space due to differences in cabinet design. We fill every fridge freezer with groceries and check how flexible each design is, so you can be confident a fridge freezer will have ample space for your weekly visit to the shops.Fridge freezer Ease of useOften we find some fridge freezers are easier to set up and use than others. We rate the position of the thermostat controls, how easy it is to adjust, the type of display, whether a model has a high temperature alarm or automatic door alarm.Fridge freezer efficiencyFridge cooling speed To see how quickly the fridges can cool your groceries, we set the room temperature to 20oC and allow the fridges to acclimatise. Each fridge is then loaded with 6kg of gel packs, the weight equivalent of around 12 tomatoes, one large chicken and four pints of milk. Using temperature probes inserted into the packs, we record the average time taken for all of the gel packs to cool to 5oC.Freezer efficiency in a power cutTo test how long the compartment will keep food frozen in a power cut, we load both the fridge freezer compartments with gel packs. When all of the packs in the freezer are below -18oC, we switch the power off. We then record the time it takes for any of the packs in the freezer to rise to -9oC.Fridge freezer temperatureFreezer testingWe take readings from numerous positions inside the freezer.Temperature stabilityRoom temperatures can vary widely in the course of a day, especially on very warm or cold days.We record how well each model works at 10oC, 20oC and 32oC to check how stable the internal temperature is when the external temperature fluctuates. Good fridges should stay between 2-3oC, while freezers shouldn’t get warmer than -18 oC.Uniform temperaturesThe temperature inside a fridge freezer can vary so unwanted warmer spots can develop. We monitor the temperature at the top, middle and bottom of the cabinet to ensure all parts of the fridge freezer will be keep your food in mint condition for as long as possible.Fridge-freezer noiseIt's virtually impossible to spot how noisy a fridge freezer will be while you're in the shop. Our independent testers not only rate how loud each fridge freezer is when it's cooling, but also how annoying the pitch and tone are.

Which? appear to test how efficient the various models are by the look of things but not how reliable over 12 months.

Hard for them to test this & people should take their recommendations based on performance, not quality and long term reliability.

What do you mean by 'reliable over 12 months' and 'performance'?

Where do you reckon people should get independent recommendations?
