paid 32.99 last time on lightning deal and it's worth it's weight in gold!

very accurate and much less hassle than a tape measure

Measure from front or back end of tool

But won't that add an extra 8 inches to the distance?

Got and bought

More accurate than using an app on your phone.

Damn this website. Bought and heat.

depends on the circumstances while measuring. flexibility helps than restriction.

Impulse buy of the day...heated!

These are brilliant. All the cheaper ones have a poor minimum distance. This one measures from just 15cm away. Fantastic.

Purchased.

I use this tool as a surveyor.

Recently I measured the length of a gable end but had no marker to measure against.

Has anyone got an ingenious way to fix a marker to measure against.
I'm guessing some sort of clamp with a flat edge butting up against the wall would do.
I'm watching dragons den in anticipation!

I don't know what this is, but the word laser makes me want it. HOT

I always measure from the end to add 8 inches to my tool.

Jokes aside, it's a bit misleading to say 'Measure from front or back end of tool' as a feature. Other models have a switch to automatically calculate the range based on the front or back. This model only measures from the back ... if you want to measure from the front then you need to subtract the length of the unit yourself ... which isn't hard, but it's not exactly a feature.

Could you measure a point at each end from the ground, take the angle and use trig?

I've done something similar before on site, it was slightly messy, but there was no other way of accessing.

Should help with the sniping.

Surely, 'As A Surveyor' you should know how to do this?

Only 15m.... Not the longest is it.... Still hot for all those diy people. For a professional maybe lacks distance

I dont need it but I wants it !

Bought and thanks to the OP

Nice unit but I need area at hand for building planning so got this amazon.co.uk/gp/…35E
and I love it. Good price from the Bosch one thanks OP but I can't find mention of area and seems a little slim on some features.

Hukd should come with an impulse purchase warning!!!

These caught my eye months ago in B&Q with no price tag, at the time Amazon had them for £60 and I couldn't quite convince myself that I needed one that much.
At this price it was too easy to click 'buy now'
Looking forward to this arriving and measuring everything for fun.

Tbh you are better off getting a unit that does the trig calc for you, ie stand away from the wall and take the measurement to either corner and the unit gives you the wall length.
I am also a surveyor and have been using a Bosch for the last few years

Generic ones are available for a tenner.

And a top of the range Leica can cost £750 so i guess it depends on what level of equipment you need but this is still a good price for this item

Just one point to be aware of, some cheaper ones use a laser dot to show where it is pointing but use ultrasonic to measure the distance.

For an extra £12, would members recommend that one then for a more all-round unit for a regular DIYer? The 80m will defo be useful, but will the general refinement and quality of the product be as good or better than the Bosch?

I suppose it depends, if you're using it for very basic DIY in a smallish house, then the original one posted is ok, for anything else, I think an extra £12 gets you an awful lot more. 15m can start to get restrictive, there are rooms in my house that this would be useless for, but the 80metre one I posted is always going to cover it plus it has a wider range of features and a better display.

Damn you HUKD. Another £30 gone.

HUKD feels like the truman show, I think 'Oh I could do with one of those' next day someones posted it on here.

These aren't that great, got this befor I got my hilti laser measure, a far better job just have to pay the price

if you are a golfer you can use within 15 metres to the pin

I love how you brush your teeth in the shower.

Is it your first day as a surveyor ?

Use your clipboard, lean it against one end, slip a small peice of card in between the clipboard and the wall. hey presto, ping the cardboard, and you are done.

If it's a gable end, most have over hanging gutter which you could subtract the difference or silicone trim to the end and measure to that, bit of solvent to clean it off afterwards, maybe even caulk to rub off easier.
