Dam that's good. just bought a wickes special though. wickes.co.uk/810…534

Typical B&Q. Title and features says single speed but additional information says " speed gears - low speed with high torque in 1st gear, e.g. sawing holes, high speed with lower torque in 2nd gear "

Do we know if this is just an impact drill or does it double up as a general hammer drill too?

Tesco? Have they merged with B&Q.

I know Tesco merged with Ikea a few years ago _ i bought a chicken and the legs fell off :w00t:

Impact drill = hammer drill. They're the same thing.
It's a very good DIY drill for £30

Impact and hammer are the same thing. Used for brick/concrete/stone etc. Normal setting for metal/wood/plastic and the like.

I don't think are many drills about nowadays that don't offer both hammer and normal.

Mate that made me laugh out loud - this guy should be a comedian!

voted hot - my Bosch hammer drill has given me nearly 20 years of service and going strong. I've even put a fork in the chuck and used it as a food mixer when I had first home; just be sure to brush any brick dust off first otherwise it spoils the food!

I bought this from B&Q sometime ago at £30. Customer service is getting worse at B&Q but thankfully the service from Bosch was excellant. This drill broke after approx the 6th time of using, Bosch picked it up from my house, fixed the direction button and power (probably brick dust) and returned it just short of 7 working days. B&Q wrongly said I had to send it to manufacturer - contract is with B&Q.
Good drill and complements that drill set that could be got for just over £11.00 X100?

Probably using the wrong or blunt drill bits. Set to hammer and push the drill from rear and whoosh you will be into next doors house :whistling:

this is prob because b&Q have so many dishonest CUSTOMERS(if u can call em that) so many think b&q is a hire service, blatantly use powertools etc.... bring it back say there is something wrong with it (when infact its perfectly fine) to get there money back! = they done the job they wanted to do with out paying sod all!

so will warn u all now, b&q are getting stricter with with their returns policy. to stop all the minority (altho a big minority!) taking the p*ss.

Just reserved one

Thanks! H & R

I had this nonsense with B&Q also when returning a defective product.
Had to spend 15 minutes hectoring their counter staff & then the supervisor before they rolled over.
They insisted I had to return a product to a manufacturer & couldn't even give me a returns address for that company.

Go prepared for a battle & don't give in.

Probably correct but really annoys me! In the past I would purchase stuff on impulse and more importanly over purchase items for my latest project. I would then take these items back for a refund either via credit note (no receipt) or credit back on to card/cash with receipt. They recently refused to refund without receipt and this included credit note. The reason for this will be that they are not the cheapest anymore and keep doing non stop sales and bogoff but increase prices first. They would lose out if you purchased from Homebase or themselves - Screwfix and returned it to B&Q. You could say fair change of policy BUT this also applies when taking B&Q labelled stuff.
It is a daft change because I just argued and got my refund, they said I would have to bring proof of purchase - pointed out I had proof for over 5k of stuff in the year so how would that prove anything. Like I said they refunded BUT the next five items for my current project have been purchased from my local diy shop.
Next time they won't get my postcode because I am not prepared to help what so ever and anything I buy in future will go back if I don't use it - have many tubes of sealant never opened at time but kept just incase.

Exactly. In my local area I find that if I want to return something and fancy an arguement then return item at Blackburn. For decent service (although probably know face now) then go to Bolton. Blackburn will also only refund if purchased from their store - they are worse than rubbish and the reserve and collect stock and availability at Blackburn is totally wrong along with shelf marked pricing which is always wrong re insulation. Not had much issue at Stockport store although the store at Ashton is also pretty useless re customer service and they don't even know what price match policy is.

It is reversable - that is the part that was fixed on mine as I mentioned in 1st post!

b&q will refund their own label products fine, its the branded stuff thats a bit more dubious. & regardless if u have proof of over 5k of stuff u have purchased b4 is still not proof of someting that u have no receipt for.
personally i think argueing with the customer on missuse/no receipt purchases is the right way to go, U as the customer NEED to prove u purchased it @ a b&q store. whether that be with a bank statement then so be it!

TO add to these comments......a b&q store HAS to accept back purchases from other b&q stores as long as u have a receipt, even if its not ranged in that store.

there are exceptions tho..........items delivered direct from a vendor(supplier/manufacturer) or from a massive fulfillment centre. usually these centre's are able to pick up these goods within 4-5days and give a refund.....its the impatient customers who want to give it to a store and not wait, that will be asked to arrange for it to be collected.

most b&q's now have to have clear overstock/topstocks now due to health & saftey reasons and cant hold all these special ordered stock!

Good price. Hot.

got mine today

My point of 5k is that I could have purchased two tins of paint for £50 which show on my bank statement along with any of the 5k purchass. I may purchase items a few weeks later i.e. a tube of sealant for £5 or i.e any item for £50 or under - take this bank statement and it will be accepted as proof of purchase. So an idiotic policy without any thinking behind it. it only inconvenienes those that are NOT trying it on. Anyone trying it on can easily get past it - as mentioned above or purchase item again with receipt and then also have proof of purchase on bank statement.

Why such a fuss, if you want to return something with no hassle, then just keep the receipt. Is it really that hard?

Why post such an obvious comment mr perfect....
The point is that B&Q have changed policy and it is NOT for the reasons staff give.
If people were using it to hire stuff then they can still return the item with the receipt or proof of purchase. They have changed policy because people are returning stuff bought cheaper elsewhere or returning B&Q sale purchased stuff when the promotion end. B&Q should just sell at the 'correct' price all year round instead of dodgy sales. B&Q sales consist of items that had their prices increased week/s or months before and then reduced in a 'sale'. Same with buy 2 get 3rd free - biggest rip off is the boscsh power tools - oh look at this thread! Inflated prices - I purchased this at £30 when not in a sale @ B&Q.

If you dislike B&Q so much, then why are you still shopping there?

All companies have sales, and prices vary all year round. They'll be just as reluctant to refund without the receipt.

Shut up, as you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Any big and decent store will give a credit note or exchange without a receipt.

I didn't say I disliked B&Q. I said the customer service is getting worse and this is backed up by their change in return policy, which by the way is no longer displayed on big boards within the store. B&Q itself is convenient for location and amount of stock BUT that doesn't mean it has good customer service! Don't bother replying as above because your comments add nothing and show your own personal lack of cs.
