Overview

This dishwasher flew through our tests without breaking a sweat. It cleans and dries fantastically and is easy to load and unload. Sure, we've found others that are a little bit more efficient. But what sets this dishwasher apart, and gives it a lead over most, is that it runs almost silently.

What is it?

A full-sized, integrated dishwasher from Bosch with 14 place settings.

There are seven main programs, including an auto 45°C to 65°C program for everyday cleaning. This will measure how soiled your dishes are and adjust the temperature, water and length of the program to suit.

Other options include an eco 50°C wash that lasts a little more than three hours, an intensive 70°C wash, a 40°C wash for delicate glassware and two fast programs: a 65°C wash for one hour, and a quick 45°C wash.

There's also a 'Silence' program that will try to reduce the noise made by the machine. But in our testing we found the auto program to be near silent, so you shouldn't need to resort to this.

Four extra functions let you customise your program choice further. Intensive Zone will make the wash in the lower rack more intense, for very soiled pots and pans, while keeping the wash in the top rack gentle. VarioSpeed Plus reduces a program's length. Hygiene Plus will increase the temperature of the final rinse up to 70°C, so is good for sanitising items used by small children and allergy sufferers. Extra Dry extends the drying stage of your selected program.

It also has a machine care program that should be run every few months with the dishwasher empty. This will help your dishwasher stay clean and last as long as possible.

You can delay the start, choosing down to the minute up to 24 hours ahead. There is also a child lock button and a dosing assist detergent tray that all-in-one tablets fall into to dissolve in a more controlled way.

It comes with a two-year warranty, as standard.

What's it great at?

The auto program on this dishwasher is a real superstar. Even against a whole buffet of blots and blemishes it cleans and dries almost every item to sparkling perfection, leaving them spotless and free of water marks.

Plastic tubs are normally tricky to get dry as they don't retain heat in the same way plates or glasses do. But this Bosch does a great job of getting all the water out of any nooks and crannies.

The auto program on this dishwasher isn't particularly efficient, but it isn't wasteful either. If you want to save opt for the eco program. This will save you about a third on energy and water - shaving £20 off your energy bills per year.

Noise is a common bugbear for dishwasher owners, but this won't be a problem if you buy this Bosch. It's among the quietest dishwashers we've ever tested.

All-in-all, this dishwasher is easier to load and unload than most. The bottom rack is really well laid-out and spacious. Our only comment would be that the occasional glass or cup in the top rack aren't well supported and need to be placed carefully.

It's easy to adjust the height of the top rack, too. Just pull a lever on either side of the top rack, and pull it into one of three height level options. But 20cm glasses will only fit when it's in the lowest position, though, in which case large 28cm plates will only squeeze into the edges of the lower basket.

Is there anything else I should know?

There's one touch-sensitive button for each of the nine programs, so choosing one is very easy. Although we wish the labelling was in bigger lettering, as it could be difficult to read for those with visual impairments.

This dishwasher doesn't need a handle, as the door opens and shuts with a simple push.

Should I buy it?

Absolutely. There really isn't a better dishwasher out there for a better price.
