Hot price for quality machine

bought a similar bosch 13 years ago, had a new belt fitted last year, engineer said should do another 13. I like the simple controls.

Yeah ours is 7 years and no problems what soever... Hot

" Unfortunately, this product will not be delivered before Christmas "

For an item that is described as being " In Stock " ???

I noticed this as well, seems to be a mistake though. When you go through to checkout you can choose delivery dates well before Christmas.

I bet that it isn't a " mistake " John Lewis service is dire, these days, they don't actually seem to " stock " any large appliances, they just seem to order them from the manufacturer, but of course they don't actually tell customers that piece of information.

It is called Public Relation spin speak , before it was sincere service manager speak.

Several of us families owned Bosch for 20+ years. They lasts about 4-5 years on average with one wash per week. I got fed up with the high repair charges (versus new at ~£300) so I learnt on the net how to repair them myself. It is usually the pump motor, belt, bushes which wear out. Much kinder to the environment to repair the thing.

John Lewis always seem to do well in Which? surveys.

Sadly " Which " is not part of the suffering public.

They are still the best of the remaining department stores by a long mile.

you really need to get your facts right

they DO stock a huge amount of items that they keep at their main distrubution Centre, but because there are absolutely loads of items they can get they dont hold everything there..

if on the website it says "available to order" it is an item they get from the manufacturer, if it says "more than 10 in stock" it is in stock at their warehouse and can deliver within 2 days (express delivery £19.95) or their free delivery (usually aprox a week)

The items in the stores are usually the items held at the main warehouses, wheras the website can show a lot more of course
The shops however can order "direct from the manufacturer" also and depending on the availablility delivery times can vary.

This is a very good price for Bosch Wash machine

So tempted, but my machine is working fine right now and I can't really afford this at the moment. I want a great offer around this time next year really. But my luck will be that mine fails when no good offers are going.

is this one of the high quality models made in Germany, or one of the lower quality ones made under contract somewhere else?

not many Bosch ARE made in Germany, its usually Poland.
or Spain or Greece.
the SIEMENS models however (Same group) generally are made in Germany and IQ300 and above have the 5 year guarantee
(so not their IQ100 range)

I've got the equivalent washing machine, been going strong for 4 years. Bosch are not as well built as they used to be but you pays your money and takes your choice.

I have got my " facts right ", sadly John Lewis do not " stock " any large kitchen appliances, they are all supplied from the manufacturer, even their own branded items..

That is why they have such difficulty in completing orders on time.

John Lewis sadly is not the same reliable, customer focused company that it once was, great shame.

Sorry, I am confused:( Do you have to buy a tumble dryer to get the £50 off, or is it that you get an additional £50 (i.e. £100 in total) if you buy a tumble dryer as well?

I'd like to know where you are getting your 'facts' from as that is completely untrue. John Lewis do stock most large appliances just not all of them. What Neosalad said is absolutely correct.

Even items that are listed as " more than 10 in stock " and " delivery within 4 working days " are taking well over a month to be delivered.

Yet companies like A.O. and the Co-Op can deliver items the next day without charge.

John Lewis is living in the past, I'm afraid.

That is a pathetic comparison, the sales volumes are wildly different. Have you compared the number of product lines between JL and AO???

AO 2013 Revenue = £275.5m
JL 2013 Revenue = £4.060 Billion

Get AO to stock the variety of items JL do and get them to deliver them all next day, then you may have a valid point.

Showing as £349 now.

Perhaps that is the root cause of the serious problems at JL, attempting to sell more items than they can possibly manage.

I am only talking about large kitchen items, not smaller items.

It's 349 pounds now...

This is a good washing machine though, right? Regardless of the petty arguments that surround the original posting (go get a drink and talk it out girlfriends...) I'm trying to figure out what machine is going to last and do the job it should. This seems like a good buy if it were to come down in price again?

What are the odds they've increased the price so they can knock (the same) £50 off on Black Friday and claim it's a reduction...

expired now £349 (before cb)
