Wonder if JL do price match

Last time when there was 20% off then I tried to do price match which JL declined. Although they agreed to price match with £35 off because they had it on their website.

I wanted to buy silver one however its gone up £50 from last time :/
I'm a bit confused. The post says this machine comes with a 10-yr warranty whereas the eBay listing only mentions a 2-yr warranty.

Update: It seems the 10-yr warranty is mentioned on the Bosch datasheet and website, but I think this only applies to the direct drive motor alone, not the machine as a whole.

That's correct, this warranty covers the motor as a part. A number of manufacturers do the same in their models that use inverter motors (Bosch/Siemens, Samsung, LG and Beko).

2 year warranty for the washing machine - the 10 years is for the motor. 2 years is on the low side you will be better getting one of the LG or Samsungs for similar price but include a 5 year warranty. The warranty itself is worth over £100 - just for the piece of mind. I dont expect that the vast majority of people will need to use the warranty on these machines.

This is a good washing machine though

I have a broken down Samsung ecobubble - paid around 600 just over 5 years back and the drum spider broke. Samsung doesnt have the spare part for my model which means I had to buy a new machine. I ended up buying this from JL 3 weeks back with £100 cash back from Bosch.

Never buy Samsung - spare costs only £50 but scrapping the machine has costed me more.

There are 100s of Samsung machine with the same fault!

Same thing happened to me for one of their fancy smart washing machines that I won when they first launched. £1700 machine, breaks down in 5 years
I have this machine. After a year and 1 month the belt went so the drum wouldnt spin. Needed to pay 60 to have soneone come out and fix it. Didn't use Bosch as they were going to charge 100 as it was over the 2 years.
Bosch are the best washers. Parts are easy to change yourself. Nice basic controls. Dont get sucked in by fancy controls from other brands as when they go it's a write off

Agree. Got one that's about 13 years old, put some carbon brushes on (£10), which was fairly easy and then a new pump a bit later(£20). Then off it goes again!

The spider disintegrating between 5 years seems to be a common problem with the Samsung machines due to the composite metals used in the spider. I haven't encountered the problem in the LG machines even though they use a similar spider.

Have you managed to get JL to price match? I’d like to do the same

This machine is amazing, I cannot recommend it enough. I've had it for over a year now.

1. It cleans really well.

2. It's really quiet. During the wash phase you can't hear the motor, only the water sloshing about.

3. You can open the door mid cycle and add or remove washing, it doesn't need to drain or anything. It's not the rubbish Samsung system where you have a little door for adding stuff, you can actually open the big front door and not a drop of water gets spilled. Need to add a dropped sock, no problem, need to add a bath towel, also no problem. This feature alone is worth the asking price!

Only down side is some of the default settings aren't what I'd like, the cottons wash defaults to 40 rather than 30 degrees, minor things like that.

Not a good or bad point but the short wash cycles (15, 30, 60 min) only take that long if you stick to the weight limit for those cycles. If you overload the machine, it lengthens the wash cycles accordingly (which is preferable to being left with dirty clothes!)

Over the 2 years, or after a year and 1 month....? Did you wait 11 months to report it, or were Bosch not good on their 2 year warranty?
Anyone know if delivery day can be chosen? I'd hate to be out when they try to deliver... never bought a large appliance from ebay before

Alshanky, did you pay 499 for it? It is currently 429 at John Lewis, call them and claim the 70 quid back. You're welcome!

Thank you! We've already bagged 70 quid from JL. But will ask for a price match with appliance direct, I believe you're allowed two bites of the price match cherry.

Sorry. That was a typo, it was 2 years and 1 month. Technically out of warrenty sadly.
"Returns: 30 days refund, buyer pays return postage"

If its DOA that's going to cost a lot to return. This puts me off. I don't see anything else that with regards to returns, unless i am missing something?

I have a Samsung washing machine which I paid £675 5 years ago. It's noisy, it stinks and the washing isn't great. Not died yet.

We have a Samsung tumble dryer, paid £699 it doesn't dry my clothes properly, leaves them still moist. It's a Heat Pump one.

The worst one was our fancy Samsung oven, paid a lot for that, filaments kept going, only cooked properly one side. I thoroughly enjoyed chucking that piece of crap in a skip.

Only my Samsung TV's have been semi descent.

I'll be moving to other branded appliances.

It's on ebay, if its DOA the seller will have to accept a return and pay for it. Even sellers/items listed as no returns can be returned if faulty at the seller's expense.

Are you sure you have this machine ?

Pretty certain Bosch machines (EcoSilence Drive) are direct drive ie they have no belt.

Good question. I guessed based on the controls looking identical and the weight capacity. But I would have to check to be certain, these things don't have catchy names.
