Heat incoming!

Q45. Better ANC then the 35s but worse sound quality then the 700s.

For best sound in the Bose line up 700s
For best ANC 45’s

They aren’t that big an upgrade from the 35s, and I actually think my 35s sound better as the ANC is less aggressive meaning so music seems to sound fractionally better. 35's sound marginally brighter, for lack of a better word.

However I train, tube and fly a lot, so the 45s are my go two pair due to the better ANC. I have all 3 due to a past heavy Bose discount, which is how I can compare. (edited)

Everyone talks about the 'bad' sound quality but I've gone back to 35s from XM4s purely due to the comfort. The Bose design has essentially been the same from the QC25 and for my big head they're far more comfortable than the Sonys
Worth considering over marginal differences in sound quality, imo.

I almost bought them yesterday from JL but then tempted to read some more reviews (basically comparison with XM3/4) as its a lot of money. Reviews left me thoroughly confused and now they are sitting there in my JL basket as I am undecided. Its a bit frustrating that some say Bose are better and others say Sony are better. (edited)

My only real complaint with these is that you can't turn the ANC truly off like you can on the NC 700. Ended up switching to the Audio Technica M50x-BT2 and have been really happy with them, but no ANC and slightly worse comfort.

Have these and they are very good but if you're using wirelessly, Bluetooth will put you into headset mode if you need to use the mic. This reduces sound quality noticibly so very annoying if you need them for gaming.

If you don't want to go wired, I recommend steelseries arctis 7x at the same price, no noticibly quality difference since Bluetooth bandwidth limits that because you get better wireless range.
