Best price I’ve ever seen it. Unfortunately only the silver is at this price, not the black. Special edition has USBC charging too rather than micro usb which is a bonus. Best speaker at this size and price I’ve ever heard.

There's another option at QVC for £117 & pay over 3 months interest-free at £39/month: qvcuk.com/Bos…tml
As there's a £5 discount using FIVE4U for first-time buyers, it's virtually free delivery (which is +£5.95). Quidco/TCB offer 6.4% QVC cb, but using the code may disqualify it.
But, as you said, better to wait it out if you can especially as you already have several speakers.

These don't include the charging stand or power adapter anymore.
The sound is truly impressive. Staggering for the size with decent placement. Honestly other mini speakers don’t come close, and I’ve had a fair few to compare
Argh can't decide whether to bite! Waited ages for these to be lower priced and now I'm skint from buying things by being on lockdown 😫

The special edition over the version II gives you a couple of extra hours battery life, USBC charging and USBC Cable. It doesn’t have the dock anymore. Does have aux in, Bluetooth and conference call ability.

de4ll0v3r01/04/2020 18:20

No

Correct it’s a standard Bluetooth speaker. The older soundtouch app works with the soundtouch 10/20/30/300 soundbar over WiFi The newer BOSE home systems also Works over WiFi but isn’t backwards compatible so the home 300/500 series speaker and 500/700 soundbar

Thanks for the heads up on QVC . Was contemplating taking the 5 monthly payments of £23 with Amazon also. But I think I'll wait, I'm sure it'll be on offer again at some point in the future and really this would've been more to take on holiday but I don't think I'll be going anywhere in the months to come!

It was but on Amazon Germany somewhere in Feb. At this price it’s a good deal. Heat!
I have the 'normal' one (not special edition) and it is superb. I use it all the time in and around the house, the garden, etc. Can't fault it. I think I got it from Germany or Spain, but indeed as others have said, this price now is really great

Amazing little speaker.
sounds superb.
worth every penny.
Thx, ordered for the home office.
Can you use Plex with this? I have lots of music on a plex server
Bose for those who know nothing about sound quality.
Better than Sonos?
How does this compare to the anker soundcore boost?
I ordered the black one from QVC the other day as needed a computer speaker with some umph. I have used it every day since, happy with the purchase. It is very bassy though.

You get a fiver off on your first QVC purchase which mostly covered the delivery cost.

Not better than a play 1. The bluetooth is just convenient. I also tried using it on Zoom instead of wearing a headset and it worked really well (though annoying my PC disconnected every time it used 10% of its power!)

I returned my 2x Play 1’s which I bought on offer last week at 2 for £248 from amazon. Setup was a total pain and took ages, with all sorts of errors. Finally got it working and two days later it lost all connection and I had to factory reset. Setup was awkward and error prone again so I gave up and returned it. (And I am tech savvy having worked in a certain fruit shop before) there’s no excuse for poor user experience.

This is a shame, Sonos was amazing when I first got their stuff. Can I cast from my iPhone to these? I like to listen to podcast ms at 1.5 speed and the Sonos app won’t let me do it! The normal podcast app does

Both this speaker and the Sonos 1 can be ‘cast to’ from iPhone (albeit Bose is via Bluetooth and Sonos 1 is via AirPlay 2 via Wifi).

AirPlay was not in the older Sonos and you were confined to the app I believe however now you can play from the Podcast app directly to either Sonos or Bose yes

Great news! Shame I might have to break my lock down budget and get one

Play one is far superior in power and sound. I had the version 2 of the Bose, which in its own right is amazing for its size and beautifully made. Highly recommended.
Can you play two as a pair at all? I have one and it’s amazing for what it is. Stereo pair would be awesome

You can group the airplay across older devices, so technically you only need one device that supports airplay in your Sonos system if you want to use multi-room. Never had any connectivity issues with my Sonos system, linked a new "One" to it in less than Five mins this morning (and that includes adding the voice assistant) the rest of the system has been rock solid for the last 3 years. It's possible you had a defective Sonos but more likely to be a Wifi issue than a Sonos problem I'd suspect.
Please note that the special edition DOES NOT come with charging base! I was very disappointed

You’d have thought however virtually all other 1-2 star reviews on Amazon speak about this specific issue so if it’s affecting so many people it’s likely poor testing on their part of their products across a range of networks and networking hardware. (of course there are plenty of 5* happy reviews too).
Watched the YouTube mymatevince fix one of these last week I liked the sound and trust his opinion that the sound was really clear and the bass off a nearby wall was really good.
So badly want this but picked up a JBL Flip 4 months ago!
I use this as my desktop speaker as my PC has Bluetooth (I use headphones most of the time) and they do a great job. My room is fairly small but it fills it just well and the sound is crisp!
