These look great, if i replace the front left and rights on my Boston Acoustics Soundware 5.1 setup, would these be an improvement you reckon? or not really? I mean they do sound great as it is but i just like the look of the bookshelf speakers.

Turn your set up into a 7.1.
Unless your amp won't allow it.

How do these compare to my beloved Wharfedale Diamond 9.1s?

You do realise that for a 7.1 setup you have to mount two speakers high on the front wall, yes? If you do know that, then I envy you a lot right now!

2 high front speakers is a Pro Logic IIz setup which is a simulation. True 7.1 surround sound has 2 more speakers behind.
But IMO 2 front high speakers is a much better setup then true 7.1 as there are only a limited number of bluray titles with a 7.1 soundtrack.

would these work as a decent setup for a PC. providing I bought a DAC amp?

I stand corrected! Still envious though... my humble 2.1 system will have to suffice (Albeit with a 100" screen :p)

HomeAVdirect - has some "questionable" customer feedback although there feedback on Amazon is pretty good. But worth investigating before ordering.....

Yes! Although a t-amp might be better suited.

Look a good price and I have used HomeAVdirect before with no problems!

I used these very speakers for my PC with a good quality t-amp and they were very good. Most HiFi speakers are not suited for general purpose uses as most have weak mids more suited to music but these were not as bad as others I have tried. In the end though i replaced them with something better.
