i bought 2 4TB Over 12 months ago on the same deal. I use them to back up my mac and for the movie library. Both still chugging away.

Title is misleading if you only state 5TB but give the price for the 2TB model

I wouldn't trust any "recertified" anything with my data.

But then at least a recertified or refurbished product has actually been tested properly. I've had plenty of new boxed items fail on delivery or soon after but never had a refurbished product fail.

Totally agree. And they aren't even offering a 5TB, only 3, 4 & 6TB.

you only put the number 5, you didn't state the sizes of other hard drives it was confusing before this as it looked like a 5TB HD from £51.99, if you had stated other sizes available it wouldn't have been misleading, with only the one number stated originally it's wasn't very accurate.

I hear what you are saying but at the time I posted there were 3 different hard drive models with 8 different sizes. It's impossible to list all these in the title hence why I have "From the 2TB Old Shape @ £51.99 to the newer shape 6TB @ £114.99" in the space under the title. Each model has it's own link and it's only possible to have one link in the title.
The only way around this would be to have a different deal for each model of hard drive.............which seems silly.

Do a simple check now to see if your backup really qualifies as a backup. So..

Is the data backed up on your Mac and on this drive only? If you answer yes, then this is not a backup, meaning the following can easily happen, but we hope they don't. Fire, theft, failure.

A backup requires data to be on at least two different mediums and not contained on the same site. So if you introduce a cloud backup too then you will have a relatively safe backup solution.

There's ways to expand on this, however I always encounter people who think backing up means just dumping their data on an external HDD. When you say to them ok so your data is just on this backup drive, what happens if it breaks or gets stolen, how will you recover your data? This usually sets the cogs in motion.

You are correct, my mac backs up to iCloud and i store my movies on the external hard drive so not to use and slow my main machine down. The data is just movies that i use to stream over the house to other apple devices with the family. No back up is truly secure and if your data is that important to you, i would print it off in binary :-)

Was going to pick one of these up for my Xbox one but they've only got the 3tb left, priced at £65. Still seems a good price but by the looks of it they have been cheaper the 4tb have been this price before. Does anyone know if it's worth waiting? Do they get new stock in often?

The old shape 4TB is £62 so I would wait. The drive usually is a WD40EZRZ

Yea, what I was thinking, thanks.
