Bournemouth Air Festival - 29th August to Sunday 1st September

A heads-up for what is arguably the best 'free' air show on the calender.

In the air

The Red Arrows, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, awesome RAF Typhoon, local legend the Sea Vixen and iconic Vulcan bomber barely scratches the surface of the incredible line-up of superb aircraft on display at this year’s Air Festival.

The air displays are due to commence at approximately 1.30pm on Thursday 29th August, and midday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Red Arrows are scheduled to appear on Thursday at 4pm, Friday at 3pm and Saturday at midday.

Yeah thanks for the reminder, completely forgot about this

Airshows now 'Free' as part of MOD 10 year plan.
Plan outline: Get child to 'exciting' airshow at age 7.
Gradually drip drip military message through school lesson plans, advertising in schools, computer games media, and public celebration.
Have the child ready to enlist by 17.
Much more productive than recruitment drives apparently. We pay through our taxes for these shows.
Not so free really!

Yep...could have gone on all the way to a funeral followed by a public enquiry oO

Personally, just going to go and watch some pretty aeroplans and fight the subliminal recruitment pressures with a nice cold beer

This isn't run by the MOD, it's sponsored by local business in Bournemouth so get your facts right before spouting such utter rubbish.

Our taxes do not provide free airshows, hence the reason it's £25 for RAF Waddington's International Airshow and thats run by the RAF (a major contribution is also made to the RAFBF from the ticket price too).

Back on topic, this is a fantastic event and becoming the best seaside airshow by a country mile. Highly recommended to anyone whose not been and is thinking about going.

does anyone know the lineup?
What's flying which day/time etc...

you can get a brochure but I can't find how yet (and It's only a week away)

There's no app this year (that I can find)

I don't live in Bournemouth so need something online or delivered

I've got a hotel booked for the Friday night but would love to know what's on when if anyone knows

Click on the link - there are a few pages - and it gives a fair idea of what's on on which days, which planes will be there and at what times.

The reason that there is no app this year is to encourage people to buy the brochure, the only means off accessing the timetable, which contains a unique code to access the online updated timetable. I see that you have now shared the timetable, thanks and enjoy the show

Such a shame that they didn't copy last years timetable and have the hour of power, at the end of the program. Which was all that I wanted to see and hear the noisy ones, iirc it had the two Tornadoes, Meteor, Hunter and of course the Vulcan, instead they have mixed all of the good stuff with the boring rubbish! Especially with me having a 5 month old child now (I'd have got her some ear defenders), really don't fancy having to spend the whole day down there!

Saw it last Friday doing a rehearsal at Wattisham airfield (I work there). Nice display as usual but they are not throwing it around as much as they used to. I'm sure they have one eye permanently on the fatigue index. Enjoy it while you can because sadly it won't be around forever.
