Thought this was an excellent price with dinner (and breakfast) included. The hotel has very good reviews on TripAdvisor, Google Reviews, Booking dot com, Travelzoo etc.
Save 51% on a dinner, bed and breakfast stay at the Royal Exeter Hotel in the centre of Bournemouth. This deal is £79 per room and includes:
  • Accommodation in a Standard Double room, with full English breakfast, for two
  • A 3-course set-menu dinner (worth £23 per person)
  • We've also negotiated a 2-night stay for £129, which includes a bottle of wine -- dinner is on the first night only
Why We Love It
  • This converted Victorian mansion is a 5-minute walk from the beach and Bournemouth Pier
  • It was one of the first hotels in the town
  • The AA Hotel Guide 2018 highlights the hotel's "ideal" location and "exciting" bar
Overview

The Royal Exeter Hotel is a stately Victorian property in Bournemouth town centre, five minutes' walk from the beach. It was once home to Lewis Tregonwell, a naval captain charged with defending the coastline around Bournemouth.
Lonely Planet sums up why Bournemouth is a great place to visit, pointing out its "glorious 7-mile strip of soft sand", "hip hideaways" and "tempting watersports". There's an abundance of things to see and do, including Bournemouth Gardens and Oceanarium: The Bournemouth Aquarium, which are a 5-minute walk from the hotel. You can also catch a show at the Bournemouth International Centre, which is directly opposite the hotel.

Bar So serves food and drink throughout the day, and mixologists make bespoke, seasonal and classic cocktails. 1812 Restaurant & Bar serves European fare and offers both set and à la carte menus. It has an energetic vibe, with entertainment including live music, so it may be a little noisy.

The hotel has 54 bedrooms, all with free Wi-Fi and 24-hour room service. There's also a small gym.

Where do people like you get this **** from?

Bar 1812 is great on a Fri/sat night. No teens or 20 somethings looking for a fight after a sniff of a pint, more a 30's/40's crowd and often live modern music too.

No. Just from actual research, crime statistics and historical data. Admittedly, I’m not sure it can still claim the title, but it was accurate enough at various times in the past as to make my lightly humorous and tongue in cheek comment somewhat grounded in truth!

Even cheaper than a fiver probably, however, I don't have a Hotel to maintain, high business rates to pay, salaries to provide these services, chefs to cook the meals and waiters to deliver it to my table.Maybe a fiver when you've given your butler a night off and only one course ;-)

I do hope that research extends past the likes of daily newspapers ? B'mth, like every other seaside town has a high level transient population due to the appeal of the wealth and opportunity. Also like other seaside towns it has a poor area associated with problems which started in the late 80s due to the recession and economy at the time. Hotels closed down and turned into cheap bedsits which attracted high volumes from up north looking for work...Scousers, Geordies, Glaswegians primarily. Thatcher told people to get off their arses and travel so that's what they did ! That area, Boscombe went downhill quickly and has never recovered. Nowadays it associated with Eastern Europeans which brings with it additional problems. Have you ever been to B'mth ?

Oh yes. Lots. I love it, in fact, and think it’s perfectly pleasant and safe place to be, and spend a fair amount of time there with my young son too, and have never seen any evidence of the activities that earned it its former status.

Again, it was just a flippant comment to add to the other flippant comments about meeting valentines and opening joint accounts that some people find amusing on these forums.

For the real geography, migration, crime and social decline/improvement chats I choose slightly different forums to those advertising deals on hotels and playstation games.

Still, whatever fires you up and keeps your hand in, eh?
I can recommend this because I bought the previous deal (they even upgraded us to a sea view room). Have already booked this again.

Some rooms a little bit dated BUT very clean. There's free parking. The staff were wonderful and the evening meal was probably one of the best I'd eaten in years... it's was an absolute bargain.

5 minutes SLOW walk to the beach...3 minutes if you are a regular walker. I would ask for a quiet room, as Exeter Road is the main road that runs in front of the pier, past the International Centre towards the town centre. Great location if you going to see a show at either the BIC or Pavilion...
I live 6 mins drive from here, and have eaten in the hotel restaurant a number of times over the years

Sounds correct to me. Always lived Bournemouth/Poole so I should know.
Am I doing something wrong? It's coming up as £95

Looks like you get the hotel all to yourself if you go by the photos. £79 seems a good deal for that.
