Im afraid its158.99 on amazon at the moment, i know its not much but its still cheaper and people are forever complaining about pixmania

Is this better than a wd TV live SMP?

More flexible than a wd tv live as its a pc, my personal choice for this sort of money is a nl40 HP proliant microserver at around 120 after cash back. Then POP in a 25 quid ATI graphics card and use the free xbmc software to play anything.

Not the most attractive thing to have sitting under the tv in the living room though, the Boxee is good if you already have a server or nas somewhere in the house.

I'm not sure a box with the corners cut off will ever be considered a design classic myself, but hey they can both do the job.

Gotta say that i have a boxee and it is quite brilliant. It looks very good under the tv and the symbol on the box is an LED, it glows a lovely green when switched on. It also comes with a nice little remote control.

I would say that it is still overpriced, but it does perform beautifully and plays everything. Also if you have an ipad you can use it as a remote control for the Boxee.

Price must have gone down within the couple of hours of me buying from Pixmania. I've been searching for the cheapest price for the past 2 days and it had been £179.99 on Amazon - would much rather have bought from them but sods law I suppose.

From all the searching I have done the Boxee seems to be the best no nonsense option around. There are other things you can get cheaper and mash together something similar but I decided to just bite the bullet and get myself a Christmas present. I do think it is overpriced but I've saved so much over the years in other offers/deals that occasionaly I have to ignore the pennies.
