cheers, need loads
Sounds good wonder if it's just your local.
Seem like great offer will check local store tomorrow
local sounds like only
If it's their own brand Verve compost, it is the worst compost I've ever been unfortunate enough to buy. More like a bag of mouldy bark chippings.
What store was this in?

Don't get any of them! they will only rust and not last! save the cash and get a good brand one which will cook the food well and last a good few years!

I thought that B&Qs own brand got Which? awarded...
Its good stuff, had no problems with it, went to get some more 2 days ago but our local was sold out and yes it got a Which award this year. Think the non-peat version might not be so good...
Thanks just got 5 bags from llanelli coz I was passing. Big pile outside but by the builders yard not main entrance

The verve brand used this year has received very poor reviews.
If its the older packaging it is probably ok.
Compost with peat = bad news.

I bet your local council sells compost made from the green stuff arriving at the tip. Get some of that. Environmental impact = almost nil.
Cheers OP
Asda is doing the 70 litre bag- the large one for £2 instead of £4 at the moment, thats so much better than the B&Q stuff.

Not in the Romford Tangent Link branch- still £4.48. Obviously store specific.

I have the exact oppersite experience, went and got some asda stuff as heard its good this year and down to £2 but it was just like shredded paper and wood but used alot of the verve stuff and its been great. Funny how hit and miss people find them all.

I wish they did but its a 16mile drive to the nearest place selling it but only 0.5mile to b and q, not that that helps the peat bogs

No 70L size at all in 2 big B&Q in Romford...ONLY 60L
Its a good price but ive already bought mine unfortunately. I paid a little extra for a decent brand this time though and it is definitely paying its dividends.

Peat based are still on the whole better for growing.

I don't know how good the local council's composting is but..well..my diseased material certainly doesn't stay on my land. And when I say diseased I'm talking stuff you do not want to get on your land.

Also is it really screened to filter out your local idiots putting things like cadmuim containing batteries etc in the wrong bin? I dunno. I dunno if Bowyers gets it stuff from the council but I'd hope bagged named composts were a high quality and be disease and unmentionables (eg batteries) free. I'd always prefer a quality brand rather than take a chance from Council collected stuff.
If you call your local council they will tell you where your green waste is sent for recycling usually they give the compost it makes at the processing plant
Parents went into Ayr branch and staff seemed to know nothing about it. In fact one member of staff looked the thread up on his phone and said they have no idea what you're on about (manager concurred). So cheers for that.

No-one needs peat based compost. The sooner it is outlawed the better. And in the meantime we just need to get as many people as possible to vote against it with their wallets.
No there're not. Expired.
