Found 24th Nov 2014
B&Q are doing four black Friday special deals this Friday only. Not sure yet if this is in-store only.

The Makita HP457 will be just £72 instead of £102.

That's really helpful, now where did I leave the time machine?

have to download the B&Q (cr)ap(p) to see whats on the black friday deal list - its a rubbish app that makes you sign up for another loyalty thing so i deleted it !

This is a good deal though - thats cheaper than two spare 18v Li ION batteries for the makita tools so you get a carry case and a drill for free - I am assuming it comes with a charger - hopefully the air cooled one !

Is this the model that's made for B&Q that the batteries don't fit other makita stuff?.

Good drill - great price... 3 year warranty which also includes trade use.

Will grab another as my dewalt is on its last legs.

Thanks op

I once sold a Makita drill in the paper, then a year later I received the very same one as a present... minus the power pack!

dont know - batteries look similar to mine - funny that the drill is not listed on the makita website as that model - 456 and 458 are listed. also if you enlarge the picture on b&q its shows a 2013 drill. Maybe its just old stock?

This model, like most of the b&q range, has the 1.3ah batteries which aren't compatable with the LXT range. The charger is also not the LXT fan one.

Don't get me wrong - still a nice drill, but don't buy if you are just looking for cheap batteries for an LXT.

I bought one of their twin packs (this drill and an impact) and they are great for diy use. 3 yr manufacturers warranty as well.

It's instore only, the deals can't be bought online

Asked my mate who works a a buyer for b&q, told me makita have discontinued this drill so they will be selling them all of, so great price for a 18v combi.

I think I remember someone on here previously saying that it is a B&Q specific range, Presumably they'll bring out more compatable tools over the coming years . Although looking at the drill and impact driver I think you could potentially change the battery mounting plate at a later date if battery supply becomes an issue - but I'm not prepared to take apart my shiny new tools yet!

Don't get me wrong still good kit - I am more than happy with my twin pack for the use I give it - and the price differential v the LXT range is massive. Whilst I fully appreciate that the LXT are superior - it is a case of for enthusiastic DIY use only I couldn't justify the outlay.

Are the batteries with this compatible with any other Makita Tools?

This is a diferrent grade of makita than the higher spec stuff like the lxt. It used to be the orange/red battery mikita which is aimed solely at the diy market but it got a make over.

Not quite. He could have left it in an alternate future/past, meaning that he will when would leave it.

They are not the LXT batteries, so no.

I bought one of these when they were on offer for £87. It's great for the usual DIY stuff. Having two batteries makes it ideal even for larger projects.

the window vac is on offer to

You can buy B&Q Gift Cards at Tesco, and on page 120 of the Tesco Xmas magazine there is a voucher to get 100 extra Clubcard Points when you buy a £20 gift card, so if getting 3 of them to use at B&Q to buy that drill you'd be getting an extra 300 Clubcard Points. I think they take a while for the credit to appear, so maybe best not bought on the way to B&Q. tesco.com/gif…asp

On that link above it state's you get 150 points for spending £50, so as the voucher states "extra" buying 3x £20 vouchers in one transaction might collect 450 points. Exchanging them at 4x value almost gets a free £20 meal at Prezzo.

Whoops! I meant to say B&Q gift cards, but had just been looking at getting some to use for something at Homebase, but both can be purchased from Tesco to get CC points, but buying two £25 B&Q gift cards (100 extra CC points each) + getting 150 CC points for buying £50's worth of gift cards, so 350 CC points for £50 spend, a 7% CC payout seems good to me.

Haha. Anyway if tescos not your thing then morrisons do 1p off lotre fuel per £10 on gift cards so can get them if need.

I agree, It couldn't have been this one, is was most likely a Nimh battery version that no one wants now that the Li version has hit the shelves.
