the reviews seem pretty dire. Have you unpacked yours yet? How are they?

i bought some of these during a sale last year. they are ok for the money, but i had to go through a shop full to find 3 of decent quality.

Unpacked and checked them over, both ok.

I've obviously been spending too much time on the O2 Broadband thread as I caught a glimpse of the title of this thread and wondered why on earth B&Q were getting into Broadband - silly me

Worked 10 yrs at B and Q and i can say with confidence you get what you pay for with those doors.

i bought one of these as wickes didnt have the size i wanted. the finish is very poor (rough wood, took a lot of sanding, lots of coats to get desired finish) compared to wickes (good smooth finish from the start). price was i paid a fiver more for the wickes ones, worth it in my opinion due to the quality of the product.

It really is beyond me why companies still sell knotty pine and why anyone buys knotty pine, the quality of it is horrendous

Got a full landing of these doors and am going to replace them all
Not a single one touches at the bottom and top of doorframe !
Dunno about Broadland bananaland maybe

Definitley a good deal, but not value for money.

Great for putting your fist through.

JezUK are you joking when you say a good deal but not value for money? It shouds like a good deal if you're looking for crappy doors as you can't get crappy doors anywhere else... on that basis i'd vote it hot except it might warp the doors further...

Yes.
Always pays to get the right size.

OK, they may have a surface finish that is not brilliant, but if stored, trimmed, hung and finished properly there is not much wrong with any of these doors (or their Wickes or Homebase equivalents). Knotty pine must be treated properly before painting (with knotting applied to the knots - surprisingly enough!) and the top and bottom edges in particular MUST be fully sealed with an oil-based primer and two finishing coats. A coat of undercoat is self-levelling and will eliminate much of the roughness after initial sanding and priming.

Yes, it does take a little time but not nearly as long as restoring an original Victorian door. (I speak from experience - restoration is the ideal but the condition of an old door might be so bad that replacement is the only option and I've found these B&Q doors perfectly good.)
