Online or instore only?

You can't get quidco instore.

I ordered our kitchen on Jan 5th. Delivery date was 27th Feb. Not a probem i thought, give me time to do the bathroom. Delivery date arrives along with most of my kitchen except the doors !!
No date given for delivery, i wait 2 weeks and then call them. Reply was 'Sorry sir we have had a stock issue with those doors, your new delivery date will be 23rd April 09' . After i complain i am put on hold to check if they can 'express' them. Reply was 'We can express them but in 5 different dates, that is not very economical for us'. By now i was choking with rage and said my goodbyes. Will visit the store manager with a picture of my assualt coarse hallway.
What angers me even more is i have just looked at their website and it displays my kitchen doors in stock available for delivery.

Beware.

No sh*t sherlock

Still waiting for my kitchen after the last half price sale!

My friend is still waiting for her kitchen - ordered at Christmas. Half has come and the rest is due in May! Dont touch with a barge pole!!:x

Those prices dont look so cheap either.

I fit kitchens for a living and wouldn't recommend buying a kitchen from B&Q if your life depended on it!

They never drop a kitchen off without bits missing or duplicates, their customer service is shocking and as for a sale pffft!! One customer of mine purchased a kitchen off of them at xmas, in the 50% off sale and with a further 20% at the salesman's discretion they were still charged £75 for one length of worktop, the same price you or I could go and get one of the shelf for at anytime during the year!

COLD,COLD,COLD!!!

Not bad if you dont mind a kitchen falling apart in 3 months and staff shrugging their shoulders when you go to complain.

I've ordered plenty of things in the past from B+Q with no problem

Ordered a kitchen from B & Q on January 7th. Tried to deliver it end of Feb. Had to refuse it as they was over half the kitchen not there. No base units. Appalling customer service, you get nothing but lip service from them. Currently fighting with them for a revised delivery date. Nightmare.
Voted very very cold.
Steer clear like the plague. Go somewhere else for a kitchen.

Nice, we need a new bathroom - I hope its worth the money!!

me too, not many good reviews about kitchens,
anyone ordered bathroom suite from them?
if so what are your experiences with them?

B&Q half price kitchen and bathroom sales are never what they seem...

]Summer 2008 prices

]December 2008 prices

Prices have exactly doubled... before offering a wonderful 50% discount!

Ikea prices seem a hell of a lot cheaper!

Could you maybe recommend an alternative to the big chains like B&Q. The smaller kitchen stores we have locally like Poggenpohl all seem to be ludicrously expensive.

After reading the comments I just had to say, we ordered our kitchen from b&q and paid a kitchen fitter friend to fit it (wouldn't use their fitting service, even the salesgirl told me not to!) and i love it. Nothing's fallen off, fallen apart, broke etc, it's been in for 2 and a half years now and I'm still really happy with it. Our kitchen fitter friend said most of the problems with b&q kitchens is when they fit it too, and that quality wise it's mostly on a par with other kitchens of a similar price i.e. homebase and wickes.

And it was delivered on the arranged day, the driver called to tell me they would be with me in half an hour......and it was all there!!

So it's not all bad ;-)

Cheers op worth a look

the half price offer on kitchens are for the more expensive type cooke and lewis kitchens

Slight OT, we're looking for a new kitchen. What companies would you recommend for quality and reliability? Thanks

only place to get kitchens from is howdens joinery they blow competitors prices away all day long

I agree that Howdens is excellent pricewise but you do have to have or have access to a trade account with them. I have recently bought two large amounts of different modular bedroom furniture from B&Q and also bathroom renovation stuff. Everything arrived complete, on the promised dates and all is of good comparable quality to anywhere else in similar price ranges. I would also agree DO NOT use their fitters.

i have to agree, focus diy use the same tactics, totally unreliable.

screwfix do kitchens at very reasonable price and quality, they send the units out already built,no flat pack involved and price is much same as getting from b and q,focus etc.

I had a quote two weeks ago for a Cooke and Lewis Kitchen. The furniture price was around 500quid cheaper than anyone else (2k) but the fitting charge was extortionate! It was 4.5k:w00t:

Was still contemplating just getting the furniture but now I decided against it; after hearing some of the horror stories on here.

Screwfix is part of the same company as B&Q (Kingfisher)

LOL caught red handed. Rep added for that post.

agree with most posts.......best to avoid.......
ordered kitchen in December 08, told delivery date was 13th Feb.....kitchen arrived without 2 sets of draws, a few end panels......and most importantly no effin handles.
Rang them, was told missing items will be dispatched 29th April!!!!!
4 months!!!!!!!! Arggghhh!!!!!!!

If you buy be prepared for the kitchen to arrive over several different visits, for some of it to still be missing, for some to be damaged, for no staff member to care or be able to help much, for failed promises to return calls, for failed promises to give you money back and for no apology. Other than that the gloss worktops mark & scratch within a few days, even using kid gloves. Still waiting for the store manager to call me back on that one - three days after I complained!

Agreed unless you want a high quality one.

I was going to buy a B&Q bathroom suite last November, I looked around on the Tuesday, went back to purchase on the Wednesday only to find that the price had doubled (for the next 28 days) in preparation for the Boxing Day "Half Price" sale.

The obvious conclusion is that there aren't really any "Half Price" sales at all, it's just devious marketing. I'll take my business elsewhere in future.

Only if you're in the trade & they don't sell retail to public, also their carcasses are approx 35% more expensive than B&Q ones.(due to being pre-assembled)

PS Yes I do sell kitchens in B&Q, might also be worth mentioning that there is 10% off this weekend on all purchases over £50. The 20% quidco is off the net value of the order excluding delivery charges.

Therefore £100 sale in store costs you £90 with 10% OFF

so £100 sale online costs you £100 + £10 delivery = £110
then quidco cashback will give you
£100 - £15 (VAT) = £85 & 20% cashback in 2 months is £17

so £110 - £17 = £93 which is £3 more than buy instore so quidco isn't such a great deal unless you are spending over £400 & you're getting Free delivery.

Plus remember if you order online & get a problem the complaint is dealt by people in Scotland & stores can't sort out DIY.com problems so no local contact to come in & see. The problems mentioned in previous posts are with the fuliment centre in scotland not the stores as they get roasted for complaints

I had the misfortune to buy a kitchen from B+Q. The guy in the store in Paisley, Peter was great really new his stuff but what let the whole thing down was the delivery it was SHOCKING!! the units and bases came first - most of the boxes were soaking wet and the units already expanding inside I refused to take most of it, I collected the rest myself from the store the next day. They then sent the wrong double oven which had to be returned and the proper one sent out a week later then finally the doors came 3 weeks later. The kitchen was lovely once it was finished but my poor husband almost had a nervous breakdown. AVOID please if only to keep your sanity.

i have bought both a Kitchen and Bathroom from B&Q and both were delivered promptly with no problems and complete. The kitchen is 3 years old now and never had any problems with it. The bathroom was ordered 3 weeks ago and was delivered on Thursday. The driver rang and said he would be at my home in the next 20 -25 mins and he was. So i can fault B&Q pehaps i've just been lucky!!!

My sister had MAJOR problems with them at xmas time last year..........to cut a VERY LONG story short she went to see them in july to get her bathroom out of the "summer sale" fast forward to November (her first installation date) and with countless problems, useless phonecalls, tiles missing, tradesmen giving her 6 different installation dates, things being delivered damaged..........need i go on!!!!!!!! The bathrooms cause as much problems and frustration as the kitchens.
I wouldn't give myself the stress or them my hard earned cash!!!!
AVOID!:x:
