Luckily I called in today & got a deal! Makes a change for me!

B&Q are clearing some kitchen sinks to make way for new products. The deal posted is the one I bought but others are available.

If you mean the one in my link yes it's black, or maybe a really really dark grey/anthracite if the nit picking brigade come along. Matt finish too, it looks good.

Agreed, similar but not the Franke name & half the guarantee......then there's the postage.

I can't translate French but I suspect that's probably the plastic composite that marks & isn't good with heat resistance, the quartz composites are definitely worth a bit more coin for durability
We have the white version of this. It looks fabulous. It states that the white one is 'clearance' but its atill £204. Not sure how they can get away with it.

Mine is black
Thanks op. Having the kitchen done. Was looking at these didn't want to spend out. But got one in loughboro ( fair few on shelf all discounted ranges) no doubt better than the howdens lamona sink I would have ended up with.
I was going to get one of these type sinks but read they are a pain to clean and you get white deposit on them. has anyone experienced this? apparently oil is the best way to clean them?

We had a composite one in our old kitchen that I think the previous owners neglected. I think it'd have probably cleaned up well, but we live in a hard water area, so all the nooks and crannies of the sink started discolouring from the water.

Personally I wouldn't have a black sink of any material for this reason. They've all got their pro's & con's, went for an Astracast stainless steel in the end!
Limescale remover is the way to clean em I've read. But only time will tell for mine.

Have to agree. Live in a hard water area and spent a fair bit on a composite sink 2 years back; no matter how frequently we clean it with vinegar/ anti scale stuff, it looks stained. It's dark brown but with the stains looks absolutely horrible. Wish we had gone for a stainless steel one. Probably won't be an issue if you don't live in a hard water area.
does it include the kitchen sink??
every summer they have end of line clearance. Last summer I picked up a Volcano black sink for about £50 which was a bargain

our Howdens composite is 7yrs old and still looks like new! - composites the way forward, voted hot
Agreed. We have the under mount version of this sink in Coffee (looks superb under the Silestone worktop) and it hasn't stained yet but we do clean it regularly. We chose it over stainless steel due to the fact we haven't seen a stainless steel one more than 6 months old that wasn't scratched to death! Heat added.

Edit: Just checked and ours is a fragranite model so probably not the same as these?

Aw, just finished the big works to our kitchen, and went for this sink..

http://www.diy.com/departments/franke-ascona-1-bowl-polished-stainless-steel-single-kitchen-sink/54185_BQ.prd

But got it from Screwfix for £79, and the matching tap (£98)

Franke sinks are great - very well made, and great little details/finish.
Both of the composite ones we got from B&Q were cracked.

Don't know if it the same with this model but the ones we had you had to drill your own hole for the taps.

Also ensure they come with the fittings as ours didn't. All the staff did was take the fittings out of another sink and leave it there there thus leaving the next person to buy it have the same issue.

That was another reason I got our sink from Screwfix, as it came with the waste kit included. Same sink from B&Q stated the waste kit had to be bought separately (for an extra £15, I think it cost)

I got a bag in mine that includes a waste kit & sink drains etc. The guy did say to me that Franke sinks come with this stuff & most others don't.

Also, on the cracked sinks, mine was fine so maybe just the luck of the draw but worth checking.

By the way I'm not defending B&Q, they are certainly not my preferred retailer! I think them & screwfix are the same outfit, definately the same parent/holding company or group
Ive just got one and it contains the waste kit

Thanks . I'm really pleased with it .
Has anyone got a black ceramic sink? I was thinking this was perhaps easier to keep clean than the composite but have read some reviews saying they are coated so peel off.
Think they must have training days in how to drop stuff,if you work in a store you should treat stock as if you were in the shoes of some one buying.
yeah i think they arent very good at handling things or returns, i had to take the one back I bought and swap it. The one i got of the shelf originally was clearly a return, no waste or extra bits, and was chipped and scratched. The second was much better thank god.
