I wonder if this "restaurant" quality charcoal as good quality as groupons so called "hotel" quality pillows?

I bought a bag of this a while back and ended up binning because it was crap, nearly impossible to ignite, and if I did get it ignited, it would crackle for ages! Maybe I just got a bad bag!

What a joke, I've heard it all now. At first I thought it was a bag of rice
Not a bad price but store specific, so best to check they stock it before travelling.
It does need a solid fire lighter in the BBQ funnel that I use. It does crackle and spit on the way to a red mass in the BBQ, It lasts well and takes wood for smoking. Do not compare with the self igniting product bought at the local garage, The down side is the two bag deal as I only use one a year, It is a good price compared with the £13 I paid earlier
I found this to be very good after switching from briquettes. This is not the horrible petrol soaked stuff you can buy that taints the food.
Nice big chunks that produce a constant heat. I found it only in the Extra stores, but you can check via the B&Q website.
Interesting - who knew the charcoal most of us use is crap!
Restaurant quality charcoal, marketing at its best!

Should be hot but so very cold!
I use this stuff all the time in a kamado Joe. It's excellent for long slow cooking pulled pork, also gets red hot for steaks and pizza.... I buy it direct from CPL as they have a shop near me. It's only £7.50 a bag in their shop.
This is great coal if you use a chimney starter. Lasts a while and burns with a great heat, may be a bit large in size for some barbecues but just break it up with a hammer . Great price, used to pay this price in Makro for it.
I just need some restaurant grade skills and food now to go with the charcoal...

This isn't CPL stuff though is it? I like CPL charcoal but this just seems to mimick the same blue bag but it doesn't mention CPL. If it's not then it's confusing a lot of people here, but if it is then I'd buy 2 bags tomorrow

I can't tell you if its CPL or not. But if you want to order CPL online try coals2u, its 10.99 a bag but free delivery if you spend over 30. Buy 5 bags or more and they reduce price to 9.89 with free delivery. Or if you have a CPL shop nearby its just over 7 quid a bag in store.
