Works out at 40p a litre. good deal heat added

I've used the B&Q Value white emulsion before and it was awful, consistency of milk. It needed so many coats I ended up going back and buying Crown to paint over the top.

A great deal at 40p per litre Thats £1 cheaper than diesel

And is about as yellow as diesel in no time whatsoever.

I've never had any trouble using cheap paint - great price!!!

this has the constituensy of skimmed milk and gives the same effect . you end up putting three coats on and wasting lots of time . you pay for what you get !

I don't know what sort of milk you guys have been drinking (_;)

This was the WORST paint we have ever used.

Using it like that or an undercoat & you cant go wrong.

Great price but in my experience the silk finish does yellow. The Matt is fine though

Used this before ideal for initial coats on a newly plastered wall, before applying a finishing coat of Dulux/Crown.

Fine if you want to put on about 4 coats! I'd never buy B&Q paint again

Hi
I'm assuming you visited a store in Stoke , (as I'll be in the local area for a short while and would like to get this deal while I can Which one was it?

Awful paint, not worth 10p a tub

My b+q have 10 ltrs of Crown matt for £10. A lot better than this paint!

That's annoying - I bought two tubs of this the other day when it was reduced to £2.44.

This paint is very thin and required three coats to get rid of a light yellow paint on the walls, and I can still see it in places. It is not very good, but then, it is £1.

Never touch B&Q own brand! You'd be as well chucking your money down the bog then leaving the job for a couple of days. Place will look the same as if you used B&Q garbage.
You pay for what you get with these cheapsters.

It all depends on how much you value your spare time. I wouldn't ever touch cheap paint again.

Anybody else actually found this

I agree that this value paint is rubbish, but the normal b&q paint is very good.

B&Q paint is pants - but would be fine for putting on a wash coat on fresh plaster.

Hottest deal I have seen for a while

I just used this stuff for the first time on a wall I had just plastered for a landlord - I thought "well the cheap stuff will do as a base coat b4 I put the magnolia over the top so theres no point in spending more on other stuff"
How wrong was I! - How they dare to call it paint is a joke I swear down its like trying to paint with milk they only use I could see anyone having with this is maybe to mix in with a much thicker paint - you just cant use this stuff on its own - I ended up having to go out and buy another tin of a diff brand just to sort the undercoat out

Did you prime the newly plastered wall before painting it?

Only thing I would use this for. And at this price, worth having.

Don't waste your energy on this you will need to apply at least four coats to get result of dulux or crown

I bought some to try once along with b&q brilliant white gloss,Never again the emulsion is so thin it does take a good 4-5 coats and the gloss is more a brilliant yellow now after being on a month.

Perfect timing as I need to undercoat a couple of walls.

If you're painting on fresh plaster the paint must be very thin, it's called a miscoat.

Intresting how the deal is moving so hot with so many negative comments.

To add my comment - If they where giving it away I would suggest you still leave it on the shelf!!

Sooo much negativity, at this price buy it for the kids and add food colouring

I used it to paint over lining paper, it took 2 coats and was fine, not patchy, not like milk etc etc.

I assume it's HOT because it's £1 for 2.5L of paint, that is a bargain even if you need to do 4 coats.

Great Price but i used this once on a brand new primed wall and after 9 COATS went out and bought a new mag that covered in one seriously this is the WORST PAINT IN THE WORLD.

Cheap paint that requires many coats and then goes yellow is the worst deal in the world. One thing you cannot buy is the time it will take to do it again properly.

Dont touch B&Q full stop. Go to Screwfix same goods minus the consumer level crap. (yes i know Kingfisher own them both - ever wonder why?)

We're in the middle of renovating a house and have been using this paint on all the new plastered walls as primer. We've put on two coats of value white, which does cover everything, even the ceiling as a final coat. We've then just put one coat of colour on top and it looks perfect. I really can't see what all the complaints are about. This is without priming the walls with PVA too. Used this with my last renovation and was spot on too!

Incidentally, we did get a 10ltres crown for £10 before this bargain came up as we thought it would be better than the B&Q and it was the same price, but tbh it covered just the same.

They had loads in stock in Rhyl, North Wales yesterday. Good deal and the tubs are a great size for using afterwards (tile adhesive and grout!)

Twice I've seen it mentioned in this thread that new plaster should be primed with PVA, you don't need to do this at all. Just use a watered down paint mixture or a paint for new plaster which you can get cheap enough at places such as Wickes.
