Brabantia bins - free replacement lids

Found 14th Mar 2014
Just discovered via googling how to repair the lid on our (fairly old bin) bin that Brabantia sends out new lids for free on all bins under 10 years old.

Just call 0844 873 5848 and describe the problem you are having with the bin (our catch went) and they will check which bin you have and send out a whole new lid.

We were about to throw our bin out and get a new (expensive) Simplehuman one, so this saved us well over £100...

Same here.

But I hope that posting this deal doesn't mean that Brabantia suddenly get inundated with lots of claims just so that people can get a shiney new lid. Don't abuse this.

I only buy this brand for precisely this reason. Their warranties are the best and they've sent me many replacement parts over the years.

Thanks, mine is working fine at 8 years.

Calling 0844 from mobile could cost a few pounds so use this instead of the 0844 number to avoid paying for the call. That way it really will be free!

Edit: The correct number is actually 01275 810600, option 1.

how can this be done online?

I'm too embarassed to ask for one, i've just come out of jail and they are bound to ask wheres ya bin!oO

This is what is called a '10 year guarantee' and comes as standard with Brabantia bins, do you not read the documents that come with it? They don't just replace the lids either.

I bought a B&Q bin with same lid and got replacement catches from Brabantia no questolns asked following my online request.

I wasn't aware of this. FWIW I was able to buy replacement catches on eBay or Amazon, a two pack cost me £3

Seems really wasteful to send a new bin lid for just a broken catch! That's like 3-5kg of materials being wasted.

Good points made re translating the number to a geographic one, should have thought of that when posting.

I bought the two pack of replacement catches first but the problem reoccured (may or may not be down to quality of cheap online catch, who knows...) and when we moved the catch cover went missing too.

A good point well made, though in our case the rest of the lid isn't in great condition, so if they want to refurb our bin, that's fine with me! I actually have an alternative use in mind for the old lid too.

I didn't add a link to this deal as I understood at the time it was phone only - you can just call the number. Someone mentioned above you can do it online, but no idea where, perhaps on their website? It was just quick call though to a pleasant customer services lady though.

That it is a guarantee seemed so obvious it wasn't worth writing down. As it happens though, no, I rarely read warranties (especially on £80 products) until the time comes to use one. Most of the time they are not worth the paper they are written on (TVs, appliances etc being the exception). And even if I did read it, years and years ago, I'd probably have forgotten all about it by now or confused it with one of the other hundreds of products I had bought since then. I probably 'binned' (sorry) the actual warranty flyer years ago anyway...

its ok. i found it on the website
thanks

Yep I done this last year online, they also replaced my canisters as well because the seal had went

Brabantia cost a bit more but well worth it in my opinion.

Hot! Did this a year or so ago. Then the lid arrived and I broke the attachment to the bin trying to fix it (totally my fault) - thought I'd be cheeky and email them...and they sent me a whole new bin!!! Definitely worth the initial money spent.

silly ? do you have a pic of the brocken bin please?

First class service from Brabantia, New lid on its way for my 50ltre touch lid bin, As the springs were gone
and can`t be bought seperatately. Well Done, Now that's a guarantee.

Phoned the number after lid completely broke after 9 years and a replacement lid was sent, amazing. Can't quite imagine why they thought we would have a receipt after 9 years but replaced it anyway. July 2015
