Following the earlier posting by moosa_c (now out of stock), I've ordered this one using the 30% off BLITZEN1 code and got it for £50.39 delivered....... It's a more expensive bin but is selling at £120 + everywhere else and the polished chrome version is £139 @ John Lewis. The big difference is the lid on this automatically opens with a hand movement..... a nice gimmick if you have dirty hands from all that work you (or your loved one) has done in the kitchen.....

Take a look at these links for further info......

Great price for the SENSOR version. Are you sure Makro had the sendor version at that price?

they had a couple of pallets in my local one thought it was too good to be true and it is the sensor one i have

£50 for a bin?

Was it a Brabantia bin? I know Netto will be doing a sensor bin on the 31st Dec but it's not Brabantia.

You pay for what you get........ Admittedly I thought the same but after … You pay for what you get........ Admittedly I thought the same but after examining one in Debenhams the quality stands out...... once again people are voting this cold because it's a bin... not because it's a bad deal...... It was posted for those who may be shopping for a Brabantia. For those of you just wanting a bin here's one for you.... not as big @ 45 litres, but will do the job....:thumbsup:http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8420936/Trail/searchtext%3EKITCHEN+BIN.htm

I've got a better one:

You are so correct £6 vs a £50 bin..

This is supposed to be a bargains site...

These are ok but if you just happen to wave your hand past them for say opening a drawer, cupboard or fridge then the lid the promptly salutes you. I also found that they eat batteries quite well.

good deal

(for those with more money than sense)

money down the pan?

It all depends on what you are after.

Personally, I spent thousands on a new kitchen and I'm sure others have as well, so £50 on the bin isn't too expensive. I spent £70 on mine and it looks great.

Dont these people understand... If the bin retails at nearly £150 and it is on here at around £50 then that is a good deal. I would definately pay that price for a bin because you get what you pay for. I have a nice kitchen and wouldnt want to put a tacky £5 bin in there.

Heat & rep left

Totally agree with you.

Thank you.

Love my brabantia bin

Have one ourselves and it is a good product, well worth the purchase price.

At this price it was so good, I purchased one for the in-laws.

This is a great price, and don't forget that with this you also get the usual 10 years warrenty with it!

I got a new bin lid, when I remembered about the warranty thanks to the last brabantia post.

Worth spending the money on! 9.99 for a plastic bin that prob lasts a year until you have to get a new one x 5 = 50.00ish.

50.00 for a brabantia bin that you get a 10year warranty with is a great bargain, and looks great

You call this a bargain?

I have found a much better deal;-):

These bins are the business

I am still waiting for a similar bin I ordered before Christmas from Amazon, I think it was about £33.

This deal was on the site in between xmas and new year using the same BLITZEN1 code, and the same comments came to the surface, including a cheaper bin etc.. etc..

remember kids, bargain doesnt mean cheap, it means good value for money!

If I had the time or inclination to write extensively about the situation with HUKD and hot voting, bot spamming, click depth of all/all/hot and other folders, new users and all the other calamity I would... Truth is I understand this fairly well I think and I feel sad about the current siutation. Patience is a virtue... Time is of value.... Its just a shame that people didnt stop to think more.

Jonny, a different Brabantia bin was on the site in between Xmas and New Year. It was the Brabantia 50L touch bin with free 15L bin for £33 delivered - £25 all in with voucher code.

The voucher has expired, grrr dosent work

Where's you bin all my life?

Loved the idea of a sensor bin - But Wife gave me the look - £50 for just being lazy

Shame.....this was a great offer.

Can't Fault them to be honest!

:santa:
I've had this bin 3 months now.
The electronic lid is very handy and functions well when working. The open and close reponse time is good.
It's the cleanist bin I've ever owned you only need to touch the bin to replace the bag.

I cook at home a lot and found myself replacing the batteries on a weekly basis.

After two months the lid mechnism began to fail - It frequently started to make a whining sound and failed to open, or close for that matter when helped open.

I used the Brabantia website service pages to request a warenty replacment (they send you a paid post bag and you return the faulty lid first) - Heard nothing. I called customer service a week latter (they know nothing of my web based request), They send my a 2nd Class unsigned for postal sticker a few days latter (no bag no customer number or returns number!) I buy a large Jiffy bag and posted it back to them including a letter detailing the problem again and including my address.

That was nearly three weeks ago - I've not recived a replacment lid or any contact from Branbantia!

I'll now have to take time out my work day again to contact their customer service - I dubt I'll have a replacment lid before Christmas! The bin is lidless and smelly!

So in closing great when it works - Terrible customer service from Branbantia when it does not!

:santa:

yeh like the 4p curry sauce.......(or was it runny dog poo) .....ew!

i dont try not to....landfill! :x

I also use carrier bags for my non recyclable rubbish.

They are now biodegradable, and will degrade within 18 months of manufacture...

Thats a lot quicker than the batteries in a Branbantia motorised bin lid, or the bin itself when its goes belly up and Branbantia stall with the repair.

Looks like the voucher BLITZEN1 has expired. Anyone got a new one????

Got lucky and bought five of these - one for card/paper; one for glass; one for plastic; one for tin cans and one for the batteries I use in the other four.
Great .. if you're a gadgeteer.

I have now expired the deal.

The original £120 price tag is some sort of joke though.

A slightly better option may be the 50 litre chrome autobin in this week's Makro mail for £29.00 + vat

see page 15 ]http//ww…pdf

This has been reduced from a slightly more realistic £54.99 + vat

Is this 'Chrome'? or Stainless Steel?

BTW can i shop in Markro without being a cardholder or do i need to be a cardholder? If i need a card, how do i become a card holder?

Both the brabantia appear to be the same Shiny Stainless Steel construction.

The Brebantia is described as 'brilliant steel' and the Makro one looks the same but has no description of the material. The Makro one is also infra red instead of motion sensing.

Have a look at page 15 in the mail on the link above and judge for yourself.
