    Beware can cause damage to pistons, bores & CAT, Modern car engines do not need this, old diesel can use this infrequently.

    Am I correct or is it a myth that once you start using this stuff, the engine starts to get used to having this to help it and wont start well without it - genuine question

    Technically no, but there is something wrong with the engine in the first place if you need to use this, and by using it you can only make it worse. As mentioned above, a little more than a puff of it, can break rings, pistons or bend rods.
