Had this phones for 2 months, pretty disappointed with it.
I paid £198 with Currys trade in offer, feel like it not worth more that £200

    - Signal is shocking , l get around 25% strength and some calsl were crackling
    - Battery is average, needs daily charging and I run with battery saver on mostly
    - Touchscreen doesn't seem to always response
    - fingers print scanner still hit and miss
    - low light camera is very grainy
    - over heats during gaming and charging
    - loudspeaker for call is a bit naff

I installed all the latest updates.

If you had good signal on your device before switching to Pixel 6a, try replacing the SIM.
If your SIM is old, it won't work well in the Pixel 6a. In my case data would break each time it tried to switch from 4G to 5G.

Replaced the SIM and it's working perfectly fine now.

Typing this on my Google pixel 6A. Got mine in the trade in deals earlier this year (worked out £199) Considering I've been an Apple fan sin OG 3G phone no complaints from.me! Had to get a phone quickly due to iPhone 11 failure. Only thing I miss is iMessage due to whole family still on apple! For the price it is and the ridiculous prices Apple want now don't think I will be going back! Also have Pixel watch which is a bit meh but does the job

Traded in my barely functional iPhone7 plus and got a 6a for £99 with that deal. Switching everything to Android was a pain but it was worth it.

My only real complaint is the lousy onscreen fingerprint reader, it got better with a January update but it's still a pile of unreliable plop, it's weird.... if you don't use the phone for a few hours, the fingerprint refuses to unlock... then once unlocked via pin, the fingerprint works better. I've removed and rescanned finger... in fact I added the same thumbe 4 times so it really should stand a chance of working, but I think it's basically crap sensor tech compared to dedicated rear scanner on the 4a.
    vassy4u's avatar
    Totally agree

I got this at Xmas. Not particularly impressed. The cameras not bad, but my older cheaper Xiomai kicked its ass on useability.
  5. MAASI_G's avatar
You can buy this directly from Three for £252, unlocked, BNIB SEALED.
    ebury's avatar
That's on contract upfront price!! Still have a monthly charge to add on🙈🙈🙈
  6. yahoohx's avatar
Is this good price? I thought Pixel 6a is normally cheaper than that.

I got one for £350 from Currys plus £100 Currys gift card. I do not consider the price I bought was good. At the time, my phone was broken and needed a new one urgently. I would avoid deals with Currys gift card in the future. It was really difficult to chase Currys for it.

I liked the phone and bought another for my son for £192 with trade in from Amazon during Black Friday. The trade in phone did not worth much, they only give £4, but boost the value by another £100 due to the deal activate at the time.

Pixel 6a is a good phone, albeit the battery is smaller than my previous Xiaomi phone. Another down point is that I feel that the edges are sharp, it is difficult and uncomfortable to hold by itself. Buying a phone case solved the problem.

As regarding phone cases, there were some transparent cheap cases are really badly made. Bumppy corners really ugly. And the three holes on some cases beneath the phone are rough, you can feel it when you hold the phone. So spend £15 to £20 to buy a proper phone case. Or try a few of those cheap transparent cases. The transparent case I initially bought had those problems which I returned. A different transparent case I bought for my son cost about £4 did not have those problems. (edited)
    spannerzone's avatar
Cheapest 'normal' price it's been but last November/December there were various trade in boosts where along with a phone trade in, there was an extra £100 off. I traded in a useless old Xioami where Currys gave me £1 plus £100 boost and the phone was also currently selling for £299 at that time. so I paid £198 and got 6 months Apple TV too.. some traded in better phones and got the 6a for very low price. Anybody moved to this from a Poco X3 NFC? If so many differences? I'm still very happy with the phone but battery life reducing and a few years old at this stage. (edited)
    Saif_Anwar's avatar
Pixel 6a has a wayyyy better performance than the x3. Wayyy better camera quality. Higher screen brightness. Has ip67 waterproof. And has oled a display. X3 NFC has 120hz refresh rate. Larger battery longer battery life. Higher slow motion.
  8. numberseventyfour's avatar
Great spot. Tempted to try one out at that price and see what the fuss was all about
    Tiger_King's avatar
I bought it at Christmas... Great phone and very fast.
  9. jonnyholywoodni's avatar
Disappointed the screen isn't as good as my Pixel 4 XL although main gripe is memory still only 128gb. Good price but need to wait for those things to get better before I'd consider an upgrade.
  10. ses6jwg's avatar
Is this much of an upgrade over a 4a 5g?
    Raja007's avatar
    Author
would not recommend upgrading from Pixel 4A 5G unless you really need the fastest Tensor chip for gaming and want to keep a phone for the next 3/4 years with all the latest updates. Pixel 4a 5G has the same camera so you will get the same quality still pictures even though processing has been improved and video is also getting better in the new generation of Pixel
  11. Korg7's avatar
This is a phenomenal phone, I got it for £200 and genuinely don't think I'll need to upgrade for ages.

Camera is amazing, battery life really good and it's really fast. I don't Game, but this phone is a bargain. Genuinely don't understand how people can fork out 1k + for a iPhone
  12. Decoded's avatar
Seems a good price, but I just don't trust Amazon. I think they sell returns as new. I returned a faulty Poco (static clicking noise on ringtones) and they didn't even ask what was wrong with it. I bet someone else will get my return. (edited)
    vassy4u's avatar
    True. Sometimes this happens
  13. saaj786's avatar
I think we hyped this phone too much
    denis68's avatar
    It is.
    Actually they are copying Xiaomi.
They push cheap phones on the market.
So they can use your phone for their computational algorithm calculation.
If you want to test it give it a try.
Disable Google from your system and you will notice a massive battery improvement.
Use to have a pixel 3a xl after 18 months battery won't last a day.
Soon as I disable Google form the system battery last more than a day.
That why they launch Tensor chipset.
Let the user calculate for us.
    Simple as that.
  14. jimel's avatar
Excellent price. Only downside is by moving from an older Pixel Id lose free Google Photos unlimited storage. And for that reason, Im out.
    Decoded's avatar
I never realised my wife's pixel 1 had unlimited storage.
  15. Jon_Fountain's avatar
I use my 6a reasonably heavily and have yet to run out of battery in the course of a day. Then again I suppose I don't spend hours watching video.
    Bri_H's avatar
Do you have 'fake' alarms showing on the lock screen i e. an alarm you never set and which never goes off?
  16. Robdataff's avatar
I think buying from the Google store directly is a better deal. They've got some really generous trade ins. I know pcs wireless are a bit contentious, but a poor condition iPhone 6 that turns on is worth £128. Ebays selling good condition buy it now ones for £50 or under. There's probably other stuff worth buying to trade, but assuming you can be bothered with the extra step, that'll make a new pixel 6a £221.

    realdeals's avatar
It's only worth £128 once they have inspected it and the stipulation is turn on and hold charge.
  17. Tiger_King's avatar
I bought mine from John Lewis at Christmas.... £299 plus £105 for recycling an old Samsung j6. Think it ended late January.
    Robdataff's avatar
Hopefully minus £105, otherwise you paid a lot for recycling.
  18. Bendown's avatar
anyone reccomend a good case at a reasonable cost?

I bought this one - it's cheap, perfect & one of the few that protects the rear camera strip:

Argos have the charcoal colour for £299 with plenty of stock

Staff discount is 10%. with occasional 15% days
Making it £269 at 10% off

Obviously cheaper than this deal but limited to Argos/ Sainsbury's staff

    May help someone

(Other colours are £30 more so this deal would be better for those)

Does anybody have experience of this phone and the Samsung Galaxy A52s? I bought A52s recently l, as I missed out on the 6a deal I wanted. Didn't realise there would be so much bloatware.

Which one is better overall, particularly in terms of battery.

    Cheers
    jimborae's avatar
Battery life I’d say the A52s is marginally better and it also has a much better screen, headphone jack & SD card support if that is important to you. However the 6A is a lot faster, has much better cameras and no bloat.
  23. robwatto's avatar
Considering trading my Samsung Galaxy S21 FE for this. Would this be a decent replacement? Thanks
    Bendown's avatar
I would not, sending mine back as the in call volume is poor/low and very directional, you have to position the phone exactly right against your ear or the thing is not very loud at all. My partners Samsung does not have such a problem. I guess it wont be a problem to some but for me is.
  24. ashpeers's avatar
Massive mistake buying this phone ,constant connectivity issues, getting set back as we speak!
  25. XiaofengXiaofeng_Xiaofeng's avatar
Has been easy to get this for £199 in the past and is missing features like 120hz or even 90hz that even basic phones have. Very poor camera sensor as well that struggles greatly with noise with high dynamic range shots.
  26. Incognito123's avatar
Cheapest price ever been from well known retailer with quick delivery.
  27. Nav220's avatar
    appreciate the added reviews

I think I'd miss the audio jack and battery life apparently poorly struggling to last a day with medium use (edited)
    SqueakyTight's avatar
Treat yourself to some wireless buds. Or if you're like me and have an audio buff boyfriend, he'll give you his old Sony ones. 💕😃
  28. RedDevil84's avatar
It's showing £276.61 for the charcoal colour now.
I got one recently and am happy with it, the only downside for me is the lack of face unlock. The fingerprint scanner has worked perfectly every time for me though, that's what worried me before buying. (edited)
    keefly's avatar
Yep, I 've had no problem at all with the fingerprint reader - in fact it works better than any other reader I've previously used & it's so handy that it's on the front rather than the back or side.

I did however use a tip from this forum when I initially set it up - I registered the fingerprint twice for each digit I use

It's a great phone for the price and you won't find anything with a better camera for anything like this money. The finger print sensor could be better but it's outstanding in all other areas.
    Kavon's avatar
Agree, the best bang for buck phone out there. The camera, Tensor processor performance and AI software experience at this price point is unbeatable. Nice pocketable size too, and that's coming from someone whose hands can handle larger phones.
  37. djdave2929's avatar
    Says £289.99 at the moment?

Also a £50 trade in for faulty iphone SE (edited)

There are just so many offers everyday, just feel like leaving it another couple of days and prices will keep dropping.

Google has 5% tcb to match this and will give me £128 for a cracked screen iPhone 6

Guess at some point you just have to jump in and not look back...
