PCP = Personal contract purchase

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A personal contract purchase is a form of vehicle finance for individual purchasers which has similarities to both personal contract hire and hire purchase (buying on installments.)

A personal contract purchase deal (PCP) requires the customer to pay a certain amount, for a set contract period of somewhere between 24 to 48 months, with the right to drive the vehicle while ownership is retained by the funding company. This is similar to contract hire or car leasing, except that the individual customer has the right to ultimately acquire the vehicle for a previously agreed total cost. Otherwise, the customer can arrange to return the vehicle, without any further liability past the end of the contract.

A personal contract purchase is therefore a conditional sale agreement and therefore under UK law the purchaser is protected under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and the Financial Services Regulations 2004.

I'm planning on starting a takeaway so this will be perfect.

They manufacture all Micra's in India these days. Bargain price but cheap plastic abounds. Owning one of these makes a statement along the lines of "If you've any doubts that i have given up on life, this car proves it".

Maybe even at this price it is not worth it.....

Voted HOT for the price.

Bear in mind that review is based on over £10k list price

This seems a complete bargain. £7000 new. 2011/12 cars of the same spec going for low 5k mark on autotrader etc from private sellers.

Provided the prices don't crash massively it's a bargain and Dacia kinda cheep, even assuming losing another 1k off what the used car prices look like now, when you sell it in say 4 years it looks to cost around £3000 for four years of motoring. Even with my pessimistic calculations that's £750 a year for the car.

As to the car itself, I think they look awful along with the rest of the Nissan range.

Heat from me, can't go wrong with a brand new car for under £7k, only think is that I need something a bit bigger ! May have to be the Dacia Logan then !

Point taken - worth noting owner reviews for Nissan on Revoo, which include good ratings for the Micra Visia - mark.reevoo.com/ree…TCP

is it a German whip ? I only buy German whips

Ah the nissan micra. Very much often found at the front of a long line of traffic going about 25mph in a 40mph area. There again, you dont want to go around a corner in these faster than 25mph - it will roll into the field at the side of the road. god awful, soul destroying cars to drive. As many have said, for someone who has given up on life - definitely in the bottom 3 worst cars ive driven.

That's my experience of Micras

We don't have a "Bristol Street Motors" anywhere near us, but I checked their store locator, and Vertu Motors has 9 different Nissan dealers across the country.

I'm in Scotland, and this deal also shows up on the Macklin Motors webpage, and they have a Nissan dealer in Glasgow.

Use this page to find the one nearest you:

Germany is not well know for its quality leather. Italian maybe.

That review is weird. They give the car two to three stars in all sub-categories, and then an overall one-star rating.

Oh man... if only I had 7k right now. I'd keep hold of it and save for something that isn't complete dogsh...

Seriously though this car is atrocious and should be avoided by everyone.

no but driving an older micra at approximately 10k miles per year am guessing id do the same in this. also really hate the fact that people say all micra drivers go slowly!! the amount of times i do the a17 at 50 because some twit cant do 60 is unreal!!

Have a look at Mitsubishi Mirages. There are some pre registered top spec ones for about 7k on autotrader. Huge levels of equipment for the money.

I once jumped into a taxi in Tijuana that had no passenger seats! Much more fun than the Micra.

Agreed - you get an awful lot of bang for your buck on the pre-reg Mirage. Mitsubishi very reliable and cost-effective. Unfortunately the press are even less favourable about the Mirage than the Micra.

This deal is warm when it comes to the price and cold when it comes ot the quality of the item.

Let me explain.

The Nissan Micra has a mixed reputation

K10 1982 - 1992 - was a good car
K11 1993 - 2003 - excellent car
K12 2003 - 2010 - poor car with many faults with some that could destroy the engine (timing belt the main one)
K13 2010 - present - poor car, badly built in India, short clutch life, other problems

Nissan as a company have changed
Upto 1999 - excellent company, stood by its products, strong desire for engineering excelelnce
Beyond 1999 - alliance set up with Renault, no longer stands by its products, reliability rating decreasing,

Anyone who is considering the latest Micra should consult the Nissan owners forum and car websites like Honest john.

Here is a recent example of a common clutch problem with the latest Micra that Nissan are denying is common! In many ways they are following the example of sister company Renault who never stand by their products.

honestjohn.co.uk/for…497

To summarise, neither Nissan nor the Micra vehicle deserve the positive reputation they worked so hard to build up as its clearly gone.

I was in a 2009 1.2 Mica Visia the other night that was quite happily doing 90mph down the motorway (flat & not down hill before anyone asks) and the car still had plenty more to give beyond that. Nice little cars (the Sunderland built ones)

A Micra that doesn't look hideous? Good work, Nissan.
