Is 4K recording limited by the battery, firmware or the size of the memory card? Where in the specs does it say it's limited to 5 mins or is this from personal experience? Whats the average battery life in minutes?

Got it from this review on Youtube (go to 7.40 in the vid), seems to have a hardwired 5 min time limit in 4k probably to prevent overheating. Also mentions it in this review. Full HD is limited to 20 mins, and files are broken into 4gb segments, which I hate. Micro SD is a pain too. The CIPA rating for the battery was something like 220 shots but cant find where I read it.

They always cripple video time and battery life on lower models otherwise the high end ones would take a big hit.

So what you are saying it's nothing to do with overheating? It's just the fact the manufacturer wants you to buy the more expensive model so cripple the cheaper models in the firmware? Good to know!

Overheating is mainly in full frame. Microfour thirds unlikely to get very hot as it's sensor is smaller. Plus there are many models if you look. So something has to be cut. These are good budget options for those who don't want to spend to much. Cheaper models will also have mic and headphone input missing.

Thanks very informative, thanks for letting us know. I can understand why you might need a mic input, but what is a headphone input being used for? Is it listening to the stuff you have just recorded?
