Theres to many phones these days so hard to choose

Too right, I've been looking for one since Xmas and can't choose as each one seems ideal but has 1 or 2 minuses - never the 2 minuses though Current phone (Samsung 6) on constant charge so will need to decide asap
How does this compare to a Samsung S8 camera wise. The wife needs a new phone.
Sweet have some heat, TCB

Camera wise on par, this is better in every other area imo.
Great deal. Sweet spot in the A range.

Great phone overall with good performance, lovely screen and great battery life.

Camera is mediocre, horrible noise reduction in anything but bright light. Feels like something from a good few years ago.

Fingerprint reader is unreliable.

Single speaker, could be louder.

Does have a headphone socket.

I am changing mine to a P30 Pro mainly due to the camera.

Agreed on the fingerprint sensor, horrid, I found the camera pretty good
Bought few months ago.good phone, Nice screen but look like cheap , plastic phone.

Sold after few days
Good price switchy. Sadly that fingerprint reader Sold it on day 2 and got the mi note 10
Good phone. Good price.
I got this phone last summer when it was released. Samsung did some super offers plus £100 off when I traded in a very old Moto C. The fingerprint reader was very poor when I first got the phone. A few software updates later it now works perfectly. Camera isn't as good as a flagship phone but it only costs a fraction of the price so it is acceptable. Otherwise this phone is brilliant. Plenty of memory, screen is amazing and it has a headphone jack.
Some may rate it, but I think it’s horrible, my phone has been nothing but trouble, connection problems, camera issues, finger print detector issues, getting rid as soon as I can

Thanks- won't be getting this model then.
At risk of sounding in agreement with Mr Wu from Beijing Bureau, I'd say this was a big flop by Samsung, trying to sell a phone designed for low-income Asian markets in the more demanding (and affluent) West.

People here can no longer put up with lousy, pathetic cameras worse than one on S6, but in 2019. You can get so much better camera phones in midrange now. Glasstic we can put up with if it's good quality, FPS can be improved OTA, lousy camera hardware not anymore acceptable in West. Samsung listened and quickly released A71

Sorry to hear about the negatives. A few things it has over the P30 Pro is that it feels better in the hand, that headphone socket you already mentioned.& it takes standard & cheaper microSD cards. Screen & battery endurance may be a touch better on this too.
Smartfonestore have temporarily closed so deal not available at present.
If you have an old phone to trade in the you can get an A71 for a similar amount. Just picked one up to replace my Mate 10 pro. It's a sideways move rather than full on upgrade I guess but One UI v2 makes the Huawei seem very dated to use.

The A71 has a camera spec bump and so far I'm impressed with it. The in screen fingerprint sensor isnt perfect, it can be a bit slow after you've washed your hands, which is quite often now.... Unlike my mate 10 I haven't put my finger on a camera lens yet so win some/lose some!
