Do any parents have this? Soon to be first time parent and looking for a thermometer.
We've used a Thermoscan since our children were toddlers. It's still in use today & they're 26 & 22! It was very reassuring to easily check if we should be worried about their temperature. Money well spent IMHO

We've always used these and they're excellent. Our current one is their highest end one which changes colour (green/yellow/red) depending on the temperature, but it's a pretty unnecessary pointless feature and I think we paid 60 quid for it which is silly. Going to pick one of these up as a spare.
anyone tried one of the no-name ear & head versions?
Its great! I purchased this after alot of research and failed alternatives. It does need disposable caps once you use up the ones in the box.
I had originally purchased a cheap Amazon alternative and it was so awful varying from +/- 2c with each reading.
When you have a sick child its the difference beyween perfectly normal and going to hospital. Beware the blurb on none brand alternatives, lots say they are Red Dot award winners, calibrated and or certified by the FDA etc etc. This all sound amazing but on checking none of the claims are substantiated. Mine also came with a note from the seller saying give us a 5* review and we will send you an amazon voucher so be wary of all 5 star amazon reviews. You might find a no brand alternative that works great but its not something I want to be second guessing.

Nothing really stopping you from doing this.

I used them a few times. You're not meant to but I really didn't see what difference it made when I was using it for the same person. After a while they get a a bit squished so I changed it then to make sure nothing was interfering with the readings.
My original one lasted 4 years and then packed in so ordered this and it arrived this morning to replace it.
Ive found the sensor is pretty susceptible to dirt which is probably one of the reasons the none brand versions have issues having no tip covers.
Having said that I've used the same tip for the same person on the same day a few times, just check its still clean, if at all waxy or damaged I would just throw away rather then try and rescue it.
