Wish I was brave enough to try this. I don't do pain...
Good price though!

very good price - I got one a couple of months ago on the ebay deal of the day - works much better than my old one and has a bright light to show up the ones that have been missed.
Beanz - it isn't pain, just initial discomfort until you get used to it.

You promise?? Hmm...I might be brave and go for it. Shouldn't be such a wuss really. I just remember trying one years ago and never got past the first 2 seconds! maybe I should just persevere then.

SusieM - I dont think this one has a light Braun 5180 has a light
Beanz - As SusieM says u will get used to it

very good price, I have this one

Don't listen to them. It's excruiatingly painful. Honestly. I consider myself quite tough as well. It's like you can feel every single hair follicle being pulled out. I bought a Braun one that said like it your your money back...I got my money back.

The ones you can use in the bath or shower are better ... in my opinion.

This Makes my eyes water just thinking about it.......................I'm sure this is a good price those.

Beanz - I'm with the "persevere and it gets easier and less painful" voice on this one and have been completely converted over the past couple of years.

As for the deal, it's a good price for an entry level device but it wasn't long before I upgraded to a rechargeable wet and dry with a light.

This one needs to be connected to mains so you will need a place to defuzz that has good light and a power source close by.

Good luck.

Can I say the obvious joke..it's a "plucking" bargain?

Seriously, though, I'd never try waxing ever again, but I find this fine for the legs (mine came with a freeze-able gel pack to use on sensitive areas and has the light; unless this one isn't as gentle?). The only place I found quite uncomfortable was underarms.

Some hardy souls use it on their bikini line, but, er, count me out.

I got an epilator about 9 years ago, still working. Would this one be any better?

If you're new to epilating can I suggest waxing your legs first, then keep on top of the regrowth with the epilator. That way you won't have the initial pain and epilating after won't be so bad with less hair to remove.

Beanz, take 2 paracetamol about 30 mins before you start , it'll take the edge off it. I have a different model and it does get easier the more you do it. Mine's more uncomfortable around my ankles for some reason.

how much r they in the shops?

Can these be used for facial hair? anyone know? or tried it ?

Ankles (and thighs for me) are indeed a little more painful but not that bad IMO...I don't really mind that kinda pain, because its more like a "sensation" than proper pain. Saying that, I couldn't use it on my underarms though, much as I would like to!

Oh yes, I am also a total wuss and a pain sensitive redhead! But I think it depends on the person...my tatoo fiend friend tried one and she said it was agony!

Somebody help me. R these things any good or would I just be wasting 20 fine queens heads???????

IMO they are good, but in summer/for special occasions you will need to top up with shaves. I often find that shaving every after 2 periods of epilation (so every 4-6 weeks for me) helps the epilator work better as the hairs are thicker at the top and easier for the tweezers to grab. I never feel totally silky smooth with an epilator but its a convenient way of staying fuzz free for longer than shaving. I had a light on mine and its made all the difference.

Give it a go I was unsure when I bought my first one but really glad I did. I've found my £25 Braun one to be far superior to my more expensive £60 Philips model.

ordered 1!

I have to say it's the best thing I've ever brought. Yes, it's a tad painful to start with but as you carry on you get used to the pain and it's bearable. Much better then waxing and less messy too. And the really goos thing is that the hairs grow back a lot finer. I can even manage the bikini line now but never managed to do under arms...way to painful for me! It means weeks of hair free legs in the summer, which to me is well worth the initial discomfort.

sorry if I mislead anyone with my comment about a light - it is the same colour as mine so I just assumed that it had one.

The light does help, so you see where you've missed, but I suppose you could improvise with the lighting yourself. I use an icepack for my underarms and hardly feel a thing; I go without the ice doing my legs (and I wouldn't say I have a huge pain tolerance; HATE waxing).

You could make up your own icepack too, it really does help with the pain. Or painkillers as mentioned earlier.

*The light and gel icepack don't come with this model. I've got the older X'elle 5285.

I've even read that different brands of epilator can be more painful, though I've only ever had this one device.
