Breitling Superocean Heritage £1300 at The Watch Galley (from £2600)

Posted the same watch a year ago when it was on sale at W of S. Now on sale at The Watch Gallery and slightly cheaper. Interest free credit available too. Waiting to see the larger one on sale myself but this is still an absolute bargain for an automatic Breitling.

If this had been 46mm I think my credit card would have took a spanking.

Same here ! Still waiting for a deal on the 46 but this is still a great watch for anyone who prefers the smaller size!
this is not for everyone, yet it is a very good deal, I just wish I did more overtime last month now
No chain, lame. Looked at the Tag Heuer Carrera's to see if they're 50% off, it was £1600 a few years ago, knew I should have bought that instead.
Don't like the strap, and 38 too small. I think this is the only 50%. Shame they never did any others, as some nice watches.

Its the size of the crown, this is 38 mm so probably better for smaller wrists
I own the Super Avenger black ltd edition... love it at 48mm

thought it was damn expensive

I have the 46 in blue, with the metal strap and I love it. Tell me though, why has this watch not gone up in price like all the others have in the last few years? For instance my old Tag cost me £1695 five years ago - it's still current and now £3k!

Not the crown, the crown is what you adjust the time with. 46mm would be the size across the watch head. You need to ensure that size is measured with or without crown. so if the watch measured 45mm with crown and the crown is 5mm then the watch would be 40mm, easy to get caught out if with watch sizing if you are not careful
This is hot, been looking at the omega planet ocean for a while but this looks just as good and look a the price difference.

It's my birthday next week but the wife's at work today. Do I just order or wait til she comes home.

Decisions decisions
It's Breitling so just trying too hard in my book as with all bar the odd model they do. Not so small but small by today's standards yes.

SOH are the only Breitlings I like, mainly as they don't look too 'try hard'.

Huge demand from China etc has pushed the prices up apparently.
not really a fan of breitlings, though its a nice looking watch.
More of an Omega fan.
The 38mm model was discontinued a while ago. Not sure why they are stating that its available to order directly from the manufacturer.
Very good price for this, not a fan of the rubber strap though, so would have to get that changed.

Also.... taken from the description..... " Constructed within a rigid 45mm stainless steel case "

What size is this ?

I'd noticed that too. Around 18 months ago Tag Carreras were £1950. Now they're £3k+! Same with Omega Seamasters - some of them have doubled in price.
Best make me fly at that price.
Re: my previous comment, think its because it must be OOS now.
Bargain. I got two.
Looks like its gone, but gonna give the a ring at 12 to find out
Im not trying to cause offence by this comment but I really don't understand the hype about watches? Can you enthusiasts explain or try to show me how £1300 on a watch is justified without making me think its a rich persons thing, because I have a feeling its not just down to being loaded??? Thanks!

Just think of why anyone would buy a car over £10K. People like something and if they can afford it, they'll buy. Why is a Ferrari worth £150K, when a Ford is £10K. There primary purpose is exactly the same, to get you from A to B. Same with a watch, why buy a Rolex when a Timex will do the same job.
I like others am confused as to why this is considered a good deal. I am not voting hot or cold either way because I obviously do not fully understand.

I spent £150 on a G-Shock watch that is solar powered, 300M waterproof, syncs it's time with an atomic clock everday (your choice of over 30 time zones) , is analogue, has a digital display that shows the day of the week, date and seconds (as it doesn't have a second hand), has a countdown timer, stopwatch and 5 alarms. It also displays the time in another timezone of your choice. It is rock solid and renown for being tough

I thought that was spending a lot on a watch, but it has functionality to justify the price. Why are these so expensive when their functionality seems pretty limited to me, is it just because of the brand name? Would appreciate if someone could enlighten me, thanks.

Bought an Omega Seamaster 10 years ago still looks great, works superbly and people always clock it.. A nice watch is defo part of any mans kit :-)
Watch Gallery had a couple of stunning deals a few weeks back, like a Tag Carrera FOS for £1575. Note that any watch that isn't in stock will probably see your order cancelled so your unlikely to get this one.

Re: the guy after the omega PO, just keep in mind that they're perhaps not the most classic of the Omega range and for PO money you could grab a Seamaster/speedy and have enough change for an Aquaracer (nice for day to day use) or something like that. The POs are just vastly overpriced IMO, at £4k you may as well spend £5k and get a Rolex submariner which is in a different league. Speaking here as someone who was dead set on a PO, but then saw the Rolex on my wrist, and there is no comparison. HTH
I have a Chrono-cockpit and have had it for 4 odd years now. Yes it was a few quid and I justify it by hoping it will last me and possibly my kid's a fair while. Im not rich but like any material item its all about what makes you feel good....same could be said about cars and clothes. Some of us look for function and some of us look for feel good too.
As long as my family are cared for then any extra is mine to do as I please.

No offence at all. I'm certainly not rich but I do collect watches. My collection isn't huge and most of the watches are regularly priced. I can't really explain it, I'm just fascinated by the movements (especially the mechanical ones!) and the way they work. Some people spend quite a lot of money collecting stamps etc which I don't understand but each to their own. Must be a bit of the compulsive streak in people that makes some of us collectors!

Quite common on diving watches as they're durable, but if you've got £1300 to blow on a watch, a £30 Hirsh strap can transform the look of a rubber strapped watch. Or if you like the military look a nato g10 (£5>£15) can do the same thing. Quite often see Rolex's on natos as that's what bond had pre-marketing crap of the 80s onwards.

Every person I know who owns a watch costing in the 1000's has always made a point of telling me how much it cost.

All those people have been narcissists too.

Word of warning. Before you consider such a purchase check how much these things cost to maintain, and how much a replacement strap for instance is. Also be prepared for a long wait to get your expensive watch repaired.

I hate cheap watches - to think I was even considering buying this superocean heritage before Christmas! So glad I didn't.

Now that I can see its dropped in price I'll stay well clear.:{

"...would have TAKEN..."
Your text here I would love one but will have to make do with my genuine fake breitling , still going strong after 6yrs
An Omega Seamaster man myself but that does look mighty fine.

I consider a good watch an investment and like shoes, cheap ones say an awful lot amount the person wearing them.

All, of course, IMHO.
