blotting paper would have been cheaper

Can these be used with concrete and wood. My home was checked and inficated bad damp but the bloke told me it was calibrated for wood.

Wooden walls????

Wooden walls????

maybe for checking firewood

I have brick and plaster house but some people live in sheds and cardboard.

Ordered.

Good Price, voted HOT

good price for a brilliant product. Yes you can test both wood and masonry by a press of a button

I don't need this, the walls of my house can auto detect moisture. Where ever they are damp they turn black. Amazing technology.

Great product, bought this a few months ago at £14.29 when I had a burst pipe. Helped locate leak and let me know when it had dried out...heat added.

bought one because i have a suspect damp patch in my house and this will work out quite cheap compared to calling a professional

Remember, these don't measure damp, they measure resistance and so while useful they shouldn't be used and relied upon if you have damp walls etc. If you (gently) probe your hand with this it will show 'damp' because your hand is conductive and has resistance.

Handy for getting an idea about whether a wall is wet vs an area that is dry but just remember the limitations. It's why 'damp proof specialists' use these things (or more fancy scary versions) - they test the wall and it'll show damp but that could just be condensation or conductive foilbacked wallpaper!

Good for wood burning logs

Caravan / motorhome checking...... Logs for your woodburner testing...... Damp patch in house etc ....

Seems handy for checking my incontinence pad .

Useful for checking seats on the train/bus...

top tip if you have a multimeter...

1. put meter into resistance mode
2. put probes in wall 3 inches apart in what you deem to be a dry wall (note down the resistance on the meter - your reference eg. 2 kilo ohm)
3. go to suspected damp wall and repeat... depending on how much lower the resistance (eg 1 kilo ohm where its more damp) you will get an indication of how much damp you are dealing with.

Repeat the above over a period of time using the same two probe points and as the room dries out (eg. with a dehumidifier) the resistance readings will INCREASE.

I love the gadget here BTW... it gives you a reading on dampness... but most people only need to know if damp is increasing or decreasing...

Just be careful where you probe, they're sharp

DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU WON'T BE TREATING DAMP.
you'll just waste money on this thing. invest in a dehumidifier instead

You get what you pay for. Next time use a better escort service.

Also useful if you are a Scientologist and you want celebrity idiots to give you loads of cash, just poke them with it and call it an audit - then charge ££££s

Here's a link to a guide that includes advice on how to interpret the results. Good luck.

Really my Dad uses a moisture detector to check the wood before it goes in the wood burner, it has to be under a certain % of moisture, so for him it's useful.
