Looks like a decent deal.

Video here

......brought back memories of watching bad porn films while stationed in Germany during the eighties

are they any good?

Would these be suitable for astronomy?

Trust me from one who bought for price, not quality.........you really do get what you pay for with binoculars. It's all to do with the quality of the prisms. Don't fall into the same trap as I did.

Not as good as some of the more expensive binoculars IMO.

Cheap bino's are always pretty crap..... I wouldn't expect much from these, even if they are Bresser.

lidl=german=good jah?

Is that the £1 or £200 more expensive models ?

£8 seems like a decent price. Is the whole pay more get more suggestion not just stating the obvious? Which set should we be buying?

carl zeiss 500 quid in being better than 7 quid lidl binos shocker

12x is a bit much for handheld and the image is gonna be pretty dark with the 32mm diameter objective lens. Having said that I'm getting a pair as spares. Doubt they'll be as good as my Nikon 10 42 SE CF's!

They will work but ideally, you're best going for something with a larger aperture to let more light in and a lower magnification so you won't require a tripod to keep them steady. 7 x 50 or 10 x 50 are popular sizes to start with. There are other things to consider (see skyandtelescope.com/how…tml).

But for the price, it'll get you outside and help decide if you want to spend more on better equipment.

Would these be suitable for spying on the totty over the road?

Might be a bit shaky with one hand.

I got some of the smaller 8x ones a few years ago and they're great, good for putting into a side pocket of your bag when walking so if you see some wildlife you can 'whip them out' easily so to speak.

Presuming these will be better as larger lens and 12 x magnification.

Binoculars at this price are fine for keeping in the car or carrying around on holiday for occasional use, but for more specialised purposes such as bird watching in low light conditions you would need to spend much more for something decent.

I bought some last year. The viewing quality is fairly poor, but then again they are only 8 quid.
