You'd be surprised :w00t: I have been looking for something like this for my mums xmas and they are pretty pricey!

Cracking price and these are really good too, another xmas pressie sorted cheers OP

Looks like this is a Breville VST022 from this page at Amazon ]http//ww…h_3 £49.99 at Amazon and #19 in Sandwich Toasters & Panini Presses.

Not sure you're comparing like for like. There's another one on Amazon which is the same model, and goes for a higher price (see my previous post).

If you have cheese as part of the filling it will leave a puddle on the heating surface instead of the sandwich,

I have similar model. And its work really well..I use to make roti, naan by pressing dough between hot plates

I bought it from debenham for £18 !

thanks, ive wanted one of these for ages!

It was £18 pound in Debenhams a few months ago but was promptly returned, not as good as I thought it would be, a sandwich press is probably all round better.

I have an old sandwich press which I use loads. It has an adjustable height bar on the side so you can set the height of the floating plate. However a new one I bought did not have the same feature and you could not set the height. Does this one have this feature do you know? If so I would be off to get it!

Strangely, a Panini press, is for Paninis.

I have one of these, used to use it loads - not so much these days since healthyness has seen me all but give up bread, and completely give up cheese.

Yeah, I love the stuff, has been hard to give it up But figured out it wasn't doing me any favours at all in a few ways so I'm better off without.

Bought this for my mum, thanks

Just doing my santa duties glad I can help out, I ordered one for my mum too......

I watched a show regarding how healthy is cheese. Apparently our bodies automatically dispose of the fats, sure i don't need to describe how :-D and uses up the nutrients!!!!

Got one of these and its brilliant. Trouble buying paninis though. Our local Sainsburys puts about 10 packs on the shelf and unless you're lucky, they're all gone by about 10:00. Does anyone know of a more reliable source in any of the other national supermarket chains?

sounds cunning - can you give a run down on exactly what you do inc receipe?

I know it is a Panini press. I want the one with flat plates rather than ridged. Presume this hase the ridged plates?

1.make soft dough for roti or naan (check the recipe on google)
2.make small ball from dough
3.switch on flat plat sandwitch press and let it be hot.
4.place dough ball on middle of the press. quickly close with pressure and open it.this way you save time for rolling and you can make perefectly round, even sized roti.
5.Its very quick way to make.can make 10-15 round roti in 10 min.after that place roti on stove or naan in oven (according to recipe instructions)

Looks good. Tempted to buy it.

The way the shops do it is to put the cheese and chicken (for instance) in the microwave and never let it near the machine, which is only used for the bread and not for the fillings !

Another one! The word is bought not brought, they are totally different words.

I have an older Breville sandwich press they are superb for toasties. Bread comes out perfectly toasted, cheese doesn't spill out unless you make a mistake (holes in bread, too close to edge (about 5mm works for me) or overcooked)

You're not buttering the bread first are you??

With these machines, any spillage like cheese is easy to deal with - just swipe with a wet cloth while still hot - comes straight off the flat non-stick plates.

Don't know which "shops" you get your toasted sandwiches from... I wouldn't go near one that microwaves the ingredients!

I think the idea is when the cheese starts to melt out it is ready! Unlike some other grills, these have a flat surface and so all you need is a shhet of kitchen rool, a quick wipe and you're done, no messy cleaning!

I got one of these years ago from Woolies (own branded) and only when i took it apart did i realise it was a re-branded breville!! Its great though, use it all the time for toasties
